Think too much hype too early about GRC. I saw them at the Russell scrimmage vs. Elliott. Loads of talent, but they are just that SOPHOMORES and very young. Elliott has 7 of the top 8 as seniors with tons of experience. Top 20 team right now?? Maybe or maybe not doesn't really matter. Top 10 and possibly Top 5 team by mid Feb?? Most definitely.... They have a load of talent and those sophomores will be playing closer to Juniors by then. Still my pick to win the 10th, but if the regional was held this weekend they might be in trouble.

 

GRC will be fine. They lost tonight by 5 points without their best player who is gonna get them 20 plus points on most nights. Mentally it was a good win for Central. I wouldnt put a whole lot of stock in this one though.

Agreed. I wouldn't put much stock in December games period. It will all come down to who is playing well in the month of February. Who is playing good then, and who is playing good now may not line up the same way. GRC will only get better with more games and experience. Stenzel is a 24ppg type guy and yes I'm sure it would have been different with his output tonight. Stenzel impressed me more at Russell than the other sophomores.

Saw him a lot in Summer AAU ball and he is a REAL PLAYER........

Congrats to Madison Central on the win. With or without Stenzel, GRC is still a VERY good team. Some of the top teams in the state will lose some games early on. Holmes did Friday night to BS and GRC did tonight to MC. It happens.

 

Don't for one second though think GRC isn't legit. They are a very solid ball club and IMO will be playing at Rupp arena come March. This is only making them better having to play without Stenzel.

The season is in the early stage.

What did Zollo do? Seems like he was a little over hyped.

 

Honestly, I don't believe he is being put in a position to succeed. They ran the offense through Rogers. To be honest I felt like I was watching UK play, it seemed like Harrelson and Patterson running the high/low(with the same struggles). I really believe that they would be better served running their offense through Vinny and letting Rogers be that weakside monster that he can be. He is a man amongst boys on the glass and he would be even tougher to handle playing off the ball. But don't get me wrong I'm not bashing the coaching. I have a lot of respect for Coach Humphrey and his staff. I just have a different philosophy on how I would run their offense. And like Goldie said we have absolutely got to hit free throws.

Don't forget that he is actually a junior in experience though. He has played at the varsity level since he was in 8th grade and started two of those years. And on top of that played with some outstanding players on really good teams.(Preston Knowles and Tristan Jones just to name a couple) And had he not sank two game winning free throws against Scott in the region semis as an 8th grader, GRC never makes it to Rupp.

No chemistry problem. This group of kids we have are all great kids and friends. Vinny is a great kid and fits in well with this group. He is playing a new position and in a new system and state..... he will be fine, as will the rest of the Cards. As I stated eariler give us till Jan and we will start jelling.

Last year Montgomery Co beat us twice in the regular season. In the district tourney we beat them on their home floor by 20+.

Madison Central came out looking like they were on a mission. They came out ready to play, GRC came out a little confused. I think not having Robbie really hurt them. But again it was an early December game and our first game playing without Robbie. I think we were just a little confused and we were thinking to much instead of just playing GRC basketball.

I agree. All teams are going to be out to get the win against the Cards this year...we better bring our "A" game each and every game. Though we rushed our shots alot of times instead of letting the game come to us.

 

Also got to get Vinny more involved on the offensive side.

Clark County without Stenzel is an average team at best, right now. That may change down the road. But without his constant scoring threat on the floor, defenses can collapse on other players and cause problems. Zollo is still adjusting to the new enviroment and other schools students are pretty hard on him. Madison Central students were VERY rude as far as student sections go. Storming the floor after the game? A wise old coach once told me " Act like you've been here before !"

All in all this was a brutal game to watch as a Clark fan. If GRC hits free throws they win by at least 10 IMO. Don't fret Clark fans it will get better!:thumb:

I tried to warn everyone. Some of the same things are being said. Mont. Co. Indians rushed shots instead of letting the game happen. We also had 20+ turnovers. And we could not hit a layup.
