Ever wonder if Beechwood should try to move out of DIII....They win 95% of the games and rightfully so. They just always have more talent than every other school in that division. It is always fun to win, but do you think they get bored with some of the competition. I can understand it if it was a one time through type of deal, but in DIII, you have to play everyone home and away. That is 14 games a year. It is great for all the other small schools who really don't have anyone else around here to play competitively, but Beechwood is mostly heads and shoulders above these teams. Yea, I know some of them are close games, but you have to consider that these other schools really get up for the "Beechwood Game" cause they know that they are always the favorite. I know that some years other schools compete for the DIII title (don't rip me for that), but traditionally Beechwood is just a better program with more athletes to choose from. I'm just saying that I bet their coach feels like playing DIII schools twice a year is a bit of a waste.

 

Who determines that they play twice a year? Do coaches get to vote on that? Is there a DIII committee? DI and DII only play once...correct?

It hurts all DIII teams to play each other twice, not just Beechwood.

Some coaches are just satisfied with being competitive within their own schedules and it does make scheduling easier.

Better question is... why does Beechwood drive past Ludlow[geographically) and Ludlow drive past Beechwood to play their District games?

No surprise here. I said I'd be very surprised if Dayton kept it within 20 and looks like they didn't disappoint.

Dominate is an extremely strong word. They will not dominate!!! They may win their share of games though.

How does scheduling make DIV 3 schools competitive. I thought talent made you competitive. The football certainly doesn't have a problem being dominate even though they play the A district schedule. This is Beechwood arrogance at its finest. Why they have this in basketball is beyond me. If anything they should be talking about the football team.

I think I am agreeing with you, Beechwood has by no means been dominate in Div. 3 In the last 10 years I know Ludlow has won 3 (Shared 1 with Beechwood and Silver Grove) Silver Grove has won "5" (Shared 1 with Beechwood and Ludlow) and Bellevue won 1. So to say that Beechwood is dominating Division 3 is a joke!!!!

I'm not sure how they do it geographically, but the call went out two or three years ago for realignment, eliminating three team districts.... This prevents the top seed from getting an automatic berth to the region... :walk:

Beechwood will have their hands full with Calvary Christian. Don't get me wrong, Beechwood is a very good, disciplined basketball team that plays within their system, but to say they will dominate this year is absurd.

Vocke is an Erlanger native and I believe, I would have to think he is playing hoops with his speed/athleticism.

I do not know any of the current freshman for Beechwood, but I do have a couple ideas on where they might have come from. The example I'm sure most Beechwood people would use is academics. Test scores have proven Beechwood to be one of the top public schools in the state. The other idea would be the football program. Many athletes come in to compete for a state championship. This is no different than the several kids to end up at schools like Highlands each year. My final idea is that Dayton also has a solid squad. Perhaps they too will beat Ryle by 20. Like I said, I'm not sure of the situation, but that would be my best guess.
