Beechwood 73 Dayton 49

I do not know any of the current freshman for Beechwood, but I do have a couple ideas on where they might have come from. The example I'm sure most Beechwood people would use is academics. Test scores have proven Beechwood to be one of the top public schools in the state. The other idea would be the football program. Many athletes come in to compete for a state championship. This is no different than the several kids to end up at schools like Highlands each year. My final idea is that Dayton also has a solid squad. Perhaps they too will beat Ryle by 20. Like I said, I'm not sure of the situation, but that would be my best guess.

Several is a not a very good choice of words. While I do admit Highlands gets their fair share of new enrollments in the 9th grade I can assure you the majority of those are for academics as well as parents trying to save a little coin while getting a fabulous education. This can be said of Beechwood as well but several is not very fair. IF you can name those kids feel free. I can only think of 3 or 4 total that moved to the Highlands district as Frosh and were contributing athletes. When you think about the Catholic grade/middle schools in Ft. Thomas and the proximity of Dayton/Newport being so close you really cant blame them.

I think if kids from Florence start tracking to Highlands then you might have an argument. I dont know specifics on the Beechwood kids or where they live but the small schools who do achieve success against them one year and then see them beating 6A schools like Ryle the next certainly have to ask why?
