Is it really a given that the Big 12 is really that good this year? Why would Oklahoma put up the kind of points on Florida that they do in the less than stellar Big 12 defenses.

 

Oklahoma's wins outside of their conference against the power conferences were UC, at a time UC when they were in no way prepared for playing a BIG game. And a wind against Washington, who is TERRIBLE!

 

Texas beat Arkansas as their only big win against a power conference :sleep:

 

TTU didn't have a game against a power conference.

 

IMO, the Big 12 teams would lose against Florida or Bama and not put 21 on the board

 

Guess I could ask the same question of you about SEC. How exactly do you see that conference as significantly stronger than Big 12? Sagarin has B12 rated over SEC. And discounting OU's win against UC simply because it was early in the season is unfair. The bottomline is that they dismantled a team that will finish in or near the Top Ten in the country. Early in the season or not, it counts as an impressive out of conference win.

The Big 12 has 3 teams ranked in the top 10, they had 4 teams ranked in the top 12 for quite a long time this season. And is the Big 12 really that good?? Hmm.

 

So since OU beat UC 52-26 early in the season, your going to say that doesn't count? Because UC wasn't ready for a big game? How about Bama, who killed a top 10 Clemson team that nobody knew would flounder like they did, are you saying Bama beat a Tiger team that wasn't ready for a big game? Yet Bama ran the table at 12-0 and went to the SEC title game? Nahh nah nah that's not the case, Bama is in the sec

 

Texas did beat an Arkansas team who finished 5-7, and 2-6 in the SEC. That same Arkansas team beat an unbeaten Tulsa, a then top 20 Auburn, lost to Ole Miss, who beat UF, by 2 points, and beat LSU.

 

TT didn't play a tough OOC schedule, I will agree. The best OOC game was against Nevada, 7-5, who lost to Boise State by only a TD. That 7 point win for the Bronco's was the closest anyone got to them all year, minus a pretty good Oregon team.

 

So an OU team, who has put up 60 points in 4 straight games, couldn't score no more than 21 on UF? UF does have a dominate defense, but OU did put up 35 on a good Texas defense, and 65 on TT, and 61 on OK. State. I wouldn't say OU couldn't put up 20 on that Gator D.

 

To finally answer your question, YES, the Big 12 is that good this year. If you don't think so, you must not watch to much football..

If Tebow wins the Heisman over Bradford, McCoy, or Harrell, wow I will have to say things just are not right. Also, hearing Tebow today put himself in the top 3 of the Heisman race made me a little angry.

I hate Florida, absolutely hate UF, but if Tebow DOESN'T win the Heisman again this year, then the award is meaningless as far as I'm concerned. He put this team on his back and willed them to win. AGAIN. None of those other candidates could do what he does. He is the epitome of a total football player and the best football player I have ever seen.

Tebow is a good football player, I never said he wasn't, but he shouldn't win the Heisman again this season. The Heisman isn't an award for a player putting his team on his back and taking them to the NC game. Bradford, McCoy, and Harrell all deserve it over Tebow. Their numbers are all amazing, and if you want to say players leading their team to the promise land, 1 of those Big 12 guys will be in the NC game, and the other 2, were just a win away as well..

I thought it was a very good back and forth game, obviously I am not happy with the way it ended. But I will be rooting for the SEC in all the bowl games and hoping that UF can continue the streak of the greatest conference in football winning the NC.

Stats are indeed important, as evidenced by the fact that the best player(s) in the country will have a boatload of them. Let's say you are absolutely convinced that Tebow is the best player, but he tore his ACL two weeks ago. You still going to vote for him over Bradford because you are convinced he's the "best" player?

If any of them had torn their ACL before their final game, they would be out of the running. Stats or no stats. However, Tebow did not have overwhelming stats compared to the other candidates last year. Not the best passer. Not the best runner. Yet, he won. Why, if it's about stats?

 

If I had a vote, though, my mind would not be changed. Tebow is still the best player in the game right now.

I'm right there with ya....I've tried really, really hard to dislike him, but he's probably my favorite college player. Dude is the real deal.

Just don't like him. I didn't back in 06 when he was a freshman, and I never will. Off the field he is a great guy, I never said a word about that, but on the field I really can't stand seeing him play. Good luck playing QB in the NFL Timmy :banana:
