Fort Campbell vs Newport Central's starting D

Featured Replies

NCC is solid on D and in every other aspect related to the game of football. They will be the best team FC has faced this season, just the way it should be in the championship.

:thumb: This will be a great match-up

How good is the defensive line for Ft. Campbell? NCC 's line seems to do a nice job every week. What will be the difference up front?

^FC's defensive line is good. They managed really well against the beastly sized offensive line of Murray.

Like FalconBacker said, this is going to be an outstanding game, it's really making me wish that I was gonna be there.

Later.

Sweet I didnt know we made it to state!

The starting thread was an honest mistake by Falconfan. The reality is that you are fortunate that NCC is representing the city of Newport. Your team will have a lot more fun watching this one than going face mask to face mask with FC.

So very very true .

He made an honest mistake, let's see if anyone can answer his question.

I think that what you'll find is that NewCath's D-Line is much better than last year. They are deep and have used an 8 man rotation through the playoffs to stay fresh w/ no real drop off. The LBs aren't as good as last year's. Last year the LB's went one way, this year 2 go one way, Chris Kelly sees significant offensive time, and Mark Kelly does it all. There really isn't as much depth there as there was last year. The DB's have caught grief all year about pass coverage. This stems from the CovCath game. In actuality a major problem has been the LB'ers not finding receivers and not recognizing them crossing their face. Van Sant from CovCath had a career day by just dragging across the middle and catching the ball in space. However, now that Escalante and Ferarra are back, the secondary is as healthy as its been all year. Escalante is about 6'4" and covers a ton of ground as a safety. Ferarra is their fastest player and shows decent ball skills. Ben Parr on the otherside is the most UNDERRATED player in NKY without a doubt. 6'2-6'3" ish. He is a playmaker on offense and has shown that he can play safety and CB equally proficiently. Overall not as fast as last year, but much bigger and much more aggressive, which is making them play faster than they are. This is a fun crew to watch against the run, scary to watch against the pass. At this point in the season I don't know how you shore up your pass defense, but if any coach can do it, Wagner will find a way.

The best pass defense is a pass rush, whether it's high school, college, or the NFL. I would like to see them bring more than 3 or 4 and dropping 7 or 8. It's all in the coaching scheme in my opinon. Pressure, pressure, pressure !!!!!

FCs D line has been really good against the run all year and if they get through the line then they have to get past #57 and that is not an easy task.
