I don't think Shover will be 100% for a few weeks, but who knows.

 

I see that's going to hurt them, but watch for him to break out when he is back to 100%.

This game is at Covington Catholic and I believe it is the 1st home game of the year.

 

Sometimes the CCH student body doesn't make it out in full force for games against out of town opponents. I hope that's not the case Friday, and I don't expect it to be.

 

And I know Mason County fans will claim they're NKY, but...you're not.

 

I might try to make it to this one. Should be a good game.

If the Royals play like they did last night against Highlands, it will not be a happy bus ride home. However, I like the fact than MC is scheduling some of the NKY teams right off the bat.

Downing will be back. Hamm is still questionable. Gilbert is injured and Middleton is sick. If the same Royal team that showed up last night arrives in Covington on Friday this one will be ugly.

If Shover was 100% I like CovCath by 10. Since he's not the ball handling is shaky. If MC puts good pressure on the Colonels this will be a close game. Mitch will only play about 3/5 of the game when he should be playing 9/10. This will hurt the Colonels in the turnover column, points column, and maybe even the WINS column. Not to mention Mitch can guard almost any Guard in the state. If Maile plays as well as he did against LexCath and the Colonels handle the ball well when Shover isn't in the game, like I said, I like CovCath by 10.

If either team plays the way they did in their opener, this will be a very sloppy game. I think with Downing back in the MC lineup they get things going offensively and come out Park Hills with a win somewhere in the 5-10 range. It wouldn't surprise me to see CCH knock them off though. Both teams aren't full strength so this is a toss up IMO.

 

CCH will need to get their post players involved. It worked well for Highlands. If they try to live and die by the three (5-23), this one could get out of hand and get ugly.

As for the game, I'm going to go with CCH by about 10.

 

I'm really hoping the sloppy play and 23 turnovers and 5/23 from behind the arc was just a fluke..so Friday they come out for their first home game and play like a team and get the win.

Downing gives MC an ingredient that they need and likely affects CCH ability to get the inside game working
