I'll take Tim Tebow over anybody mentioned. Tommie Frazier is the only one who comes close, IMO.

Matt Leinhart. All He did was win 2 National Championships as a starter and played for three. I believe he was something like 36-3 as a starter. On top of that a heisman, It is a no brainer in my book.

 

USC won 1 National Title while Lienhart was there. That was in the 04-05 season. They lost to Texas in the Title game in the 05-06 season. That's the only 2 times Lienhart played in a National Title game.

They Split one with LSU his first year as starter. So that makes 2 and 3.

Major Harris, WVU Chuck Long, Iowa Phil Simms, Morehead these are some that come to mind.

What about Leftwhich at Marshall? I will never forget him not being able to move and lineman carrying him to the line so he could take snaps. That may not make him best of all time but definitely an unforgettable moment.

I've just never been a big Lienhart fan. I always thought he was a good but not great college quarterback, that played for some outstanding teams.

 

Kind of like Jay Barker from Alabama to me. Who was 35-2-1 (all-time best at Bama) as a starter and won a national title.

Tommy Frazier. Hands down. BUT..............

 

Most underrated has to be Ken Dorsey. He was 38-2 as a starter, won 1 national title, played for another (they got screwed!), and the computers cheated them out of playing and winning one in 2000. I know that everyone will talk about the talent on those squads but Miami is always talented. But, they haven't been a title threat since Kenny D left, and on those teams you've had players like Kellen Winslow, Frank Gore, Devin Hester, Sean Taylor, Antrelle Rolle, and Roscoe Parrish. The 2001 Canes were the best team in history and a huge reason for that is their QB. If you want to talk about physical features or pro prospects then he is no where near the top, but the definition of a great college QB is winning, and in todays game he has won as much or more than any other college QB.

I LOVED Charlie Ward and the old FSU teams back in the day. Tommy Frazier was a beast too along with the white kid that could fly at Nebraska. Name has slipped me.

 

Drew Brees was another good one I haven't seen mentioned. A lot of people don't realize it but McNabb was an option QB in college.

 

QB's I've seen in person: Couch, Manning, Brohm, J. Russell, D. Wurrfell, Hines Ward (all around athlete not so much great QB), Tebow

 

There are a few other guys like Darrian Hagen, Kordell Stewart, Major Harriss, Steve Sarkisian, Dee Dallas, Steve Young, Jim McMahon, Ty Detmer etc that won't be listed as the best but were really good.

 

Obvious guys like Elway, Marino etc are a given I think.

B. Kosar is another along with Flutie.
