Florida Not A Lock For Title Game With Win?

Featured Replies

What happens if Oklahoma loses to Missouri?? Does Texas, the South Division runner up, play the winner of the SEC title game? What if UF doesn't jump Texas and OU takes care of business? Is it a rematch of the Cotton Bowl for the BCS title game? People who argue for the BCS say that we don't need a playoff because "every game you play in the BCS is a playoff". If that's the case, then why is there all this pandemonium?? Now, arguably the biggest game of the season, the Texas-Oklahoma matchup doesn't even matter!

The Gators are "clearly" playing better than an Oklahoma team that has hung 60 four weeks in a row, including against two top 15 teams? Don't see it...

Agreed, great potential matchup w/ no clear cut favorite IMO.

How great would it be for Florida not to get in the title game? Wuoldn't somehting have to be done about the BCS garbage? How great would a plus one be now w/ the two winners of the title games going against USC, Texas, or Bama instead of USC if they get beat in a close game?

Since Florida lost to Ole Miss, they have been destroying teams.

They won @ Arkansas by 31.

They beat LSU 51-21.

They beat Kentucky 63-5.

They beat #6 Georgia 49-10.

They went to Vandy and won 42-14.

They beat South Carolina 56-6.

They beat Citadel 70-19.

Then they went to Tallahassee and won 45-15.

I wouldn't say that they are clearly playing better than Oklahoma, but maybe you should look closer?

Oklahoma beat Chattanooga 57-2.

They beat Cincinnati 52-26.

They beat Washington 55-14.

They beat #24 TCU 35-10.

They beat Baylor 49-17.

They lost to #5 Texas 45-35.

They beat #16 Kansas 45-31.

They beat Kansas State 58-35.

They beat Nebraska 62-28.

They beat Texas A&M 66-28.

They beat #2 Texas Tech 65-21.

They Beat #12 Oklahoma State 61-41.

I'm not sold that Texas Tech is really that good. Really, I think the two best teams in the Big 12 are Texas & Oklahoma by a fairly significant margin. That's not to say that other teams can't knock them off, though...

I think Florida and Oklahoma have been playing amazing football recently. To say one is "clearly" better than the other is a farce. They are on an equal plane, and should play for the title if both take care of business. Where have I said otherwise???

Gators might not wanna look past the next game. They are gonna get hit.

Don't know, don't care.

I think that Oklahoma & Florida should both play for the national title. I also think that Florida will beat them fairly handily.

I agree. I think the SEC Championship game will be more difficult for Florida than the National Championship (if they make it there). Especially if Harvin is out Saturday....

So you're good with telling me to reevaluate something I've never said??? :p

You said that you don't see it. I said maybe you should look more closely. Florida has been absolutely destroying teams since their loss against Ole Miss. And they have the best college football player in the nation leading the way.

I said I don't see Florida as CLEARLY better than Oklahoma. I can see someone thinking they have a slight edge. That's fair. SIXTY points in four straight games.

You have nothing there...

Oh, ok. My apologies.

If Florida wins, they are an absolute lock...

Gotta catch 'em to hit 'em, and Florida is the fastest team in the country. Actually I think Bama's defense will do okay. I jusst don't think they'll be able to score enough to win. I would like to see a Tide victory though.
