Well, half of my prayers were answered Sunday morning. One of my cats, who was ill, I was going to try to wait until next Tuesday to have her and her sister to sleep, but the last few days she was getting worse so I was going to move it up to this Tuesday. Well, I get home ealry Sunday morning and she was a lot worse, when I woke up I decided to take her then, but she passed away while I was driving to the vets.

I found this today, the best lose of a pet poem I could find:

Loss of a pet poem...

LAST NIGHT

I stood by your bed last night,

I came to have a peep.

I could see that you were crying,

You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly

as you brushed away a tear,

"It's me, I haven't left you,

I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast,

I watched you pour the tea,

You were thinking of the many times,

your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today,

Your arms were getting sore.

I longed to take your parcels,

I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today,

You tend it with such care.

I want to re-assure you,

that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house,

as you fumbled for your key.

I gently put my paw on you,

I smiled and said " it's me."

You looked so very tired,

and sank into a chair.

I tried so hard to let you know,

that I was standing there.

It's possible for me,

to be so near you everyday.

To say to you with certainty,

"I never went away."

You sat there very quietly,

then smiled, I think you knew...

In the stillness of that evening,

I was very close to you.

The day is over...

I smile and watch you yawning

and say "good-night, God bless,

I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you

to cross the brief divide,

I'll rush across to greet you

and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you,

there is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out...

then come home to be with me.

Nice poem.

So sorry to hear about your cat, SportsGuy. I'm glad that you did not have to go through the process of putting the cat to sleep, but sorry that you lost her.

How is the other cat?

Sorry for your loss..........A few years back my 15 year old Collie/German Sheppard saved me from taking her on my birthday to have it done. She feel asleep in her favorite spot and didn't wake up.

You can never replace that.....BUT, when you are ready again.....try the shelters and the rescues.

My new "Abby the Labby" from the Winchester Ky Lab rescue is one of the best decision we have made.

Very touching.

It's taken me a couple weeks to be able to post this. Our wonderful Golden Retriever passed away in her sleep two weeks ago. She was with us for almost 11 years. It's hard to express in words what she meant to us. We miss her terribly, but are so blessed to have her as a part of our family for so long. R.I.P. Goldie:cry:

Great post by Sportsguy. My sincere condolences. Here is another that I have always liked:

Buy a pup and your money will buy

Love unflinching that cannot lie--

Perfect passion and worship fed

By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.

Nevertheless it is hardly fair

To risk your heart to a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits

Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,

And the vet's unspoken prescription runs

To lethal chambers or loaded guns,

Then you will find--it's your own affair--

But...you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,

With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)

When the spirit that answered your every mood

Is gone--wherever it goes--for good,

You will discover how much you care,

And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

Rudyard Kipling.

Been there and done that. Sorry for your loss. Nobody loves you like your dog.

How is the other cat?

Thanks, and the other one knows! In the past when the one who just passed was away for a few days (the vets) this one would be crying and walking around the house looking for her, she isn't now, but you can tell she isn't the same, depressed. She was laying next to her in my room as I woke up yesterday morning, and when I put the one in the pet bed I let her see her one last time, you could tell that she knew.

What I meant by half of my prayers being answered is that they go on their own so I wouldn't have to put them to sleep. But, with the one passing on her own, I can see where it will be eaiser on me with the other cat.
