Can we all just agree to double the SEC Championship as the National Championship?

No... What about the Big 12...

Just a couple problems. If there were a 16 team playoff and an undefeated Ball State team still didn't get in what would be the purpose.

And just the way you have it seeded, it would be highly likely that UC would be moved up or down a seed as to not have a rematch of the early season UC/OU game... And after further review, they would probably be moved up a seed because TCU has also played Oklahoma.... Also, in that scenario, it could be very likely that Alabama and Florida would play 2 times and neither be in the national championship...

Ball State is ranked 15th I believe. You have to have all the "major" conference champs in there, so they were bumped out to make room for UC and FSU. Maybe next year they can move up the ranks.

Seeding is seeding. If they get matched up against Oklahoma, so be it, tough break for UC. You can't alter seeding just because a team has played before.

I'm still pulling for 12 teams. Giving the top 4 (most likely champs) a bye week.

3 teams from a conference max

BCS auto bids for ACC, SEC, Big10, Big12, Big East, Pac10 champs

No intra conference games in the first 2 rounds

Seed based on BCS standings

Based on current BCS standings:

1 Bama vs winner of 8 TT/9 BSU

4 OU vs. winner of 5 USC/12 FSU

2 Texas vs winner of 7 PSU/10 UC

3 Florida vs winner of 6 Utah/11 OSU

Although I dont think you could have 3 Big 12 teams in there, or atleast thats what they are saying for the playoff possibility I believe.

With that being said, throw in either Big East winner (prob. UC) or the ACC winner (who knows at this point) instead of one of those 3. Or, since the bowl schedule is roughly 4 weeks as it is, you could even make it a 16 team playoff, start December 20th, and have the championship on January 10th (championship is currently slated for Jan. 8), with a limit of 4 teams per conference. Heres how it would look:

1. Alabama vs. 16. Florida State

2. Texas vs. 15. Oregon State

3. Oklahoma vs. 14. Cincinnati

4. Florida vs. 13. TCU

5. Southern Cal vs. 12. Oklahoma State

6. Utah vs. 11. Georgia

7. Texas Tech vs. 10. Ohio State

8. Penn State vs. 9. Boise State

Just a thought, throwin it out there ;)

The purpose is to find the best team. Does anyone think that Ball State is the best team? They haven't even played a top 30 team.

Their opponents are a combined 42-80.

Northeastern U 2-10

Navy 6-4

Akron 5-6

IU 3-9

Kent State 3-8

Toledo 3-8

WKU 2-9

Eastern Michigan 2-9

NIU 6-5

Miami (OH) 2-9

Central Michigan 8-3

Ball State probably doesn't even deserve to be ranked at all. IMO, they would lose to every team in the top 25.

I honestly thought Central Michigan would take care of them handedly.

I would still like to see Oklahoma vs. Florida in the title game. :thumb:

What if Florida loses to FSU this week and then beats Bama? (Probably not gonna happen, but it is a rivalry game and crazier things have happened)

Does a SEC team even get in the title game then?

If OU then wins out, do Texas and OU play in the title game??????

I believe their last game is against Western Michigan (to complete their tour of directional Michigan schools), which is probably the best team on their schedule, so they may still get beat.

The point being on Ball State issue is I'm not saying I agree, but if you don't include all the undefeated teams, then someone is still complaining.

And on the seeding issue, sorry, but that just isn't true. The people making the seeding would seed it differently as to avoid rematches for as long as possible. Why? Everyone knows that Oklahoma smacked UC at the beginning of the season, so the matchup isn't very attractive. Therefore, it wouldn't make much money. And make no mistake, if the NCAA were to go to this system, the money would undoubtedly have a very large effect on it...

How many people would complain about Ball State being left out of an 8, 12, or 16 team playoff? I would estimate somewhere around 4.

And by your standard, Notre Dame would just schedule Army, Navy, Air Force, WKU, North Texas, SMU, Washington, Tulane, Eastern Michigan, Miami (OH), Idaho, and SDSU every year.

The funny thing about those teams is that I just picked the service academies, and then the bottom 9 teams in the sportsline.com 120.

Ball State played 4 of them this year.

Northeastern U - currently unranked in the FCS

Navy - 60

Akron - 82

IU - 91

Kent State - 107

Toledo - 105

WKU - 120

Eastern Michigan - 115

NIU - 81

Miami (OH) - 114

Central Michigan - 37

Thats an average of 91. I can't imagine anyone having an easier schedule.

Im hoping for that but vice versa with Alabama and UF playing back to back games. Wasnt there rumbles of people wanting Mich. and OSU to play for that Natl' title a few years back because there regular season game was so good.
