What if...

I was watching Mike & Mike this morning and they brought up an interesting scenerio for the BCS.

What if OK St. beats Oklahoma this Sat.?

Then TT and Mizzou would be in the Big 12 Championship and what if TT wins that?

So does that make TT jump 6 spots and play for the National Title just 2 or 3weeks removed from getting dismantled by 44 vs Oklahoma?

If TT loses in the Big 12 Championship, then does Texas play for the National Title without even winning the Big 12 South?

Also does USC jump in there without even winning there Conference?

Can Utah slip in there? (Which is very, very unlikely)

I know it is a lot of ifs, but these scenerios are not too far-fetched and could happen.

***Someone may have posted, but I didn't see a thread on it.***

Someone told me that even if TT were to win against Mizzou, it would still be Texas v (Florida/Bama) in the Nat'l title.

But how can that be if Texas doesn't even win their conference and TT beat them in the regular season?

This is why the BCS is junk.

Agreed, but FWIW what I am saying might be wrong. The logic is that OK beat TT and Texas beat OK.

Its a pinwheel. Everyone beat everyone. This year could break the BCS.

That is what I'm hoping for!:banana::banana::banana:

What if Bama lost to Florida by a single point? Wouldnt that make them the best 1 loss team and deserving of a rematch with Florida?

I have also seen where it would be Texas vs. Florida/Alabama in the title game - regardless of whether Texas plays in and wins the Big 12 title game or not.

This would be a great season for an 8-team playoff:

Florida vs. Penn State

Texas vs. Texas Tech

Oklahoma vs. Utah

Alabama vs. USC

That's what I was thinking about too. This is why the system is a mess. If Okl gets hammered (doubtful but also didn't think Tech would get beat that bad) and Tech squeaks by then Bama loses by 1 it would be ugly!

IMO, play again for the title. If it is a one point game, then these are the two best teams in the country....

Although I dont think you could have 3 Big 12 teams in there, or atleast thats what they are saying for the playoff possibility I believe.

With that being said, throw in either Big East winner (prob. UC) or the ACC winner (who knows at this point) instead of one of those 3. Or, since the bowl schedule is roughly 4 weeks as it is, you could even make it a 16 team playoff, start December 20th, and have the championship on January 10th (championship is currently slated for Jan. 8), with a limit of 4 teams per conference. Heres how it would look:

1. Alabama vs. 16. Florida State

2. Texas vs. 15. Oregon State

3. Oklahoma vs. 14. Cincinnati

4. Florida vs. 13. TCU

5. Southern Cal vs. 12. Oklahoma State

6. Utah vs. 11. Georgia

7. Texas Tech vs. 10. Ohio State

8. Penn State vs. 9. Boise State

Just a thought, throwin it out there ;)

Just a couple problems. If there were a 16 team playoff and an undefeated Ball State team still didn't get in what would be the purpose.

And just the way you have it seeded, it would be highly likely that UC would be moved up or down a seed as to not have a rematch of the early season UC/OU game... And after further review, they would probably be moved up a seed because TCU has also played Oklahoma.... Also, in that scenario, it could be very likely that Alabama and Florida would play 2 times and neither be in the national championship...
