I was just talking about that tournament he had. He impressed me so much. More than most of the D-1 players in that tourn. (Profit and Mack) He was force on the boards and scored inside whenever he wanted. He wasn't huge but very strong. Reminded me of a good friend who played in the Sweet 16, St. Henry Center Mike Schmidt.

I always hate to hear of a young man that passes away while playing the game they love. Basketball has been such a big part of these young men's lives and it is important to stay close to the game. Prayers to his family and friends.

I haven't read any reports that say so, but I'm told the autopsy ruled out head trauma as a cause.

I talked to the principal of the middle school and he and his son had just left when it happened. And they also said he was elbowed in the head and was trying to shake it off and on the next trip down the floor, he collapsed. Very difficult time for that community. His family members in the Mayfield schools weren't at school on Monday. Prayers here from spindoc and family for a terrible situation.

Very sad indeed. I always worry about this sort of thing when I play pickup ball. You hear of alot of people passing away because of some unknown abnormality in their heart or something along those lines. The sort of thing that happened to Hank Gathers way back when.

Just saw Randon the other night...seemed to be doing well. The reports are now saying that the blow to the head has been ruled out. Seems to most likely be a unknown heart defect.

And the big assist on Jamie King's game-winning basket ... Cavette's ability to penetrate and create against South Laurel's big zone was the key to Graves' win.

 

Cavette played a year at Coastal Carolina but had been kicking around Mayfield since then. He had a chance to play junior college ball, but I think he just decided to stay home.

 

The place erupted when he hit him with that pass and the 6 footer snuck in and layed it off the glass against the huge SL Frontcourt. Cavette will always be remembered by most basketball fans in the state for that awesome play. Im sure his family and friends are missing him greatly at this time.
