Perhaps they're all at home watching Days of our Lives. It doesn't end until 2:00 you know.

 

Look, here's my take on this saga. Folks, for the most part, in that area are in only a few categories.

1. Those who will get off their fannies to help, albeit, so their kids who are participating can enjoy their time there. (nothing at all wrong with that)

2. Those that will point fingers at those in #1 claiming they're only in it for their kids, when in fact all the kids benefit.

3. Those that think things in GC won't ever change and nothing they do will be a benefit, so they chose to sit at home.

3(a) Those in the category above who do so quietly

3(b) Those in the category above who do so while griping and blaming everyone else.

4. Those who believe in a state of continual paranoia that someone is trying to get something over on the school, or that someone is pulling the strings from Jordan Ice, Applegates, SS Annalou, or the Brickyard.(get my drift)

 

 

Just my two cents, I may be absolutely wrong, which would lead to category 5. Those who are clueless.:lol:

Things just have to be dealt with one day at a time and they will change with the right mind set and work ethic.

 

You failed to address the part about Mr. Rister failing too help out (via my PM and several other posts). So you are in fact defending him while at the same time condemning him for not taking action. Remember, it was just the other day that he took action after sitting on the sideline (so to speak) for 2 years.

 

Athos83, he did not take action prior, but do you know where he was working? He was driving 1 1/2 hours one way to teach in Maysville area and coach baseball there. He had to leave early to see Mason play freshman and JV games last year and sometimes didn't make it back before the varsity games started. He is now teaching at Wurtland Middle School. I tried not to defend him with his job last year and the fact that he was working primarily out of Georgetown the year before that and also finishing college courses to teach. Now, if we are going to go tit for tat, you'll have to come with a little more than you have. I don't know who is pm you with your information, but you better check your facts before you talk lowly of someone.

I have read all the post on this thread. Seems to be a lot of neg. comments on here. I have heard people talking about parents being hard on the coaches. Now I am just speaking but if I were the coach of that program I would have a meeting at the beginning of the year. Every parent of every child on the football team would know that that child will be looked after, cared for, and brought up as if he were my own. But they would also know that I would not listen to any negativity or comments, period. I would deal with those folks that try to be to foward and pushy with a very stern and foward state of mind! The morral seems to be low there. The solution to that is get someone that will not put with anything but hard work and teach sound fundamentals to these players, that would solve that problem. Loosing is like a disease, everything and everyone attacks something when its weak but with wins and positive attitue u can change a lot of those things that's hendering the program. Gonna take someone with a dictator state of mind that isnt easily influenced to take on this challenge.

 

Now we just have to find that guy!

I know that a lot of posts, especially the ones from outside the Greenup area speak of how much negativity are in these posts. I want to let you know that I am truly sorry if mine are coming across that way. My main concern is the kids. I am now at another school with my kids and I still have ties to GC, as their team chiropractor. When me or any other person has an idea, there is always someone looking at it wondering what the angle is or what must be in it for the person with the idea. I have continued to help these kids via Amy Crum, the athletic trainer at GCHS, even though there have been parents that spoke ill of me. Whoever posted that you just have to do it and not listen to the "talk" is right. The problem with that is some people don't want to be talked about or don't want to be around negative people. The obvious answer is we need adults to act like adults instead of spoiled little brats that expect things done their way. Until parents and other involved adults start acting the part, this Soap Opera will continue way past 2pm weekdays.:thumb:

OK, tit for tat, and if you want I could come with alot more. In this breif period I have again received several more emails talking about someones desire not to help. I trust these PMs as they have plenty of info on things that I know to be facts about the program. So talking lowly, no. Stating facts, yes. After all, if you work in Wurtland couldn't you make it to Greenup to work on the field?

Reading this thread makes me think of a couple of rules I go by. One, you are not allowed to complain unless you also present a solution to what you are complaining about. Two, never criticize a volunteer's effort unless you are willing to step in and take their place.

I work plenty on the Raceland projects. Like I said, my kids are at Raceland and my only tie to GC is treating the kids and the fact that it is my alma mater. I care about what happens there and I want it to be a great success and a 4A power. I want them to select a great fit for the boys and someone to set a fire under all the parents and fans.

Unbelievable, truly... Everyone has their strength and weaknesses, who are we to put someone down for not doing a certain thing during the week after 2 p.m. Maybe that person doesn't want to be around some of the people involved in that activity because they don't want to hear all the negative talk or maybe they are doing other things behind the scenes that no one really knows about just maybe they have some personal issues that are keeping them from doing what they really want to do. Why would you talk negative about anyone until you are in their shoes. I was always told if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all unless you face the issue/person head on with what you have to say negative about that person or issue. All of this negative talk about Rister and anyone else is the exact reason the football program has been in the shape it has been and that attitude has got to change or our program at GCHS will never change no matter who is in charge of the program. I do now as of this afternoon have full confidence in Matt Baker and Chris Alister to hire the right person for this position and I mean that, they know what they are up against in our community, Matt has hired a great baseball coach and a great baskteball coach, I look for him to do the same with the football program but until this type of attitude changes that surrounds the program, GCHS football will not improve, this is truly sad.
