Mercer's ground game will be to much for Letcher Co. Mercer will contol the clock. Mercer wins by 2 td's

If Letcher can keep the ball and push for some first downs, this could get close (much like Rockcastle). If Mercer moves the ball at will, then this will get out of hand. Good luck to both teams, gotta love playoff time.

I think everyone is underestimating Letchers defense. I've saw both teams play. Letcher is the most underated team in the class.

I think it will be good to see where Mercer is at right now relating to the best in 5A and where they are at in a year or two because I think Mercer will at least be in the 5A state semis annually starting with this year. Highlands has had trouble before with teams from around this way.

The above game would not be close. I have not seen Highlands play this year but Mercer is not a top caliber team in 2008 and I cannot see them staying in the game with Highlands.

With Mercer's inconsistencies (this year), I would be surprised if they make it to the Highland's matchup.:eek:

They have the talent and ability to make it the Highlands game and I don't think anyone believes Mercer would beat Highlands this year, but it would be great for Mercer to host Highlands to use as a measuring stick to turn their program into the direction of one day being able to compete and one day defeat Highlands. They have some good young talent coming up and at the very least should be able to compete against Highlands one day.

I do think the "inconsistent play" is going to hurt down the stretch.

Agree, agree, agree. It would be awesome for the Titans to play Highlands and see what high caliber teams, year in and year out, look like. I think Mercer has all the ingredients to someday become a contender EVERY year, but building strong PROGRAMS takes time and starts with the little ones. I don't know if that is currently being done at Mercer. A state title helps, but one or two successful seasons is not a 'program' built.
