LCA is finally playing defense and it shows. Keep it up this week and the game will be all eagles like last years regular season meeting. What was that score? 62-28.

Last year, Williamsburg was in shock at LCA. That happened to them at Campbellsville as well. It was about the same difference in score. By the end of 2007 the Jackets could play some D, and they have been pretty solid this year.

Watching wburg play several times and Hazard on film a few...I think Wburg is better.

A wise man once said you cant base games on "commen opponents" or scores from other games because teams match up differently.

I personally think Wburg matches up with LCA very well. If Wburg wins they will have to win the TO battle and make 1 or 2 big special teams plays.

I couldn't agree more, you look at last years district Lynn Camp beat Campbellsville, Campbellsville beat Williamsburg by 40, and then Williamsburg beats Lynn Camp.

Dead on, Chant.:thumb:

This is a very dangerous team that W'burg is facing. Give them an inch, they take a mile. If you give them breaks, this one is over very fast. They are efficient with their possesions. I swear it was 40 to nothing before I really could grasp what was going on. Williamsburg had better play better defense than they have played all year and come up with a way to stop the RB and QB, plus control their receivers, or this game is over before LCA leaves Lexington, IMO.I plan on coming up to the game, but I really feel that Williamsburg's best efforts may come up short. After seeing where LCA is this year and watching our district play, I can see no compairison at all.

I think Lynn camp was mentally defeated before the game even started. Most people did not give them a chance and it had been a long season for them.

I really do not think the Jackets have to play lights out. They just have to play well. They will be at home, and they will definetly battle your tail off. I think this will be a good game, and I wouldn't dare pick a favorite.

As far as comparing the Lynn Camp/Williamsburg score to LCA/ Williamsburg score is a little ridiculous. Williamsburg had a lot of kids banged up that week, and their best reciever was playing with a pulled hamstring from that week in practice. Plus that is a rivalry game and, you would expect Lynn Camp to play better than normal.

LCA 45-21.

I did not see you at Lynn Camp's practice last week, TheReturn. They did not seem mentally defeated last week or before they got on the bus to me. As far as EVERYONE giving them no chance, looking at the above poll, Lynn Camp was doing better in the poll when it closed than Williamsburg is doing right now. (LCA 72.06% over LC's 27.94% Currently LCA 75.71% to W'burg's 24.29% ). Appears to me, unless I am wrong in comparing the polls, that it's just about a dead heat in what people expected LC to do and Williamsburg to do. We just got whooped friday night, and IMO W'burg will, too. Maybe not quite as bad but as one sided.

Not buying the shell shocked last year thing. If that's true, you have a built in excuse the rest of this season if there was some way you win friday.

(IF it's even close to true, I call dibs on using it for our game against LCA and you have to find another one for this friday!)

As far as comparing Williamsburg and Lynn Camp's injury situations that week and during that rivalry game: :creepy::creepy::creepy:

Yes, 'Burg was beat up a little that week, but still nothing to what we had went through. LC still had 2 of their 3 best RB out for the year and Wagner was back for his first action since week one from knee surgery and had been released that morning for contact.

Williamsburg had a pulled hamstring and some bumps and bruises. Yep. Seems about even on the injury front to me.

You might expect Lynn Camp to play better than normal, but they were a power team with no healthy running back, while the Jackets had injuries, but, apparently, they were healthy enough to play while beat up.

Also, are you saying Williamsburg was not up for the LC game as a rivalry game and just went through the motions on us?

It was also a mediocre LC Defense at best this year and the Offense for LC had a lot of miscues, but Williamsburg still only scored 28, in the same rivalry game. Against a very beat up LC team.

Williamsburg will have to play their best ball this year, and then some, to stay within 21 of LCA.

One more thing: YOU sad it was crazy to compare scores from these games, yet still chose the one where the game breaker went down last year between Burg and LC. Roskoph plays, it's not the same outcome. If I can't compare the LC vs W'burg to the LCA/W'burg game in '08 because of intangibles, how come you can use the '07 game to compare C'ville, LC and W'burg when our intangible that was missing had 1500 yards?

LCA will not find it that hard to play at Williamsburg. Homefield does not mean a lot in terms of advantage against Beechwood, Raceland or LCA. They are battle tested and ready and have seen worse crowds than anything we can put together down here.

Coach Rains takes his LCA Eagles down to play Williamsburg, where Paul Rains played as a high school player. Paul's son, Austin, will be on the same field his father played on.

Thoughts?

I am sure that will be a treat for father and son.:thumb:

Especially if LCA can pull out a win.

I do not have to be at practice to realize that most of the Lynn Camp fans did not give them a chance. You yourself put post on here to that affect. I have spoken to many Lynn Camp fans who definetly feel that way. The last three seasons (all losing records) does not inspire confidence in beating a good team.

As far as the posting survey's. I am not even sure what to make of that. What does that matter anyway?

I am not sure what to make of the rivalry comments either.

Why does every Lynn Camp fan say the same thing (Joe Roskoph). First off he played in the game and got hurt. He had 2 carries for negative 20 yards. For a career the kid was 1-4 against the Burg. But my point is still true about comparing scores.

Next, Williamsburg plays LCA next week not Lynn Camp. That game has been played and is over. There are a lot bigger fish to fry out there.

And they will be fried.

The polls are at the tops of the threads. We were a heavy underdog and so are you.

I work in Williamsburg and many of the statements you just made about LC fans are being made by the Jackets fans I know.

I also know what I have seen firsthand. You can discount that, make me out to be confused or twist it however you like, but LCA crushed a better/comparable to equal team to Williamsburg in the Hazard Bulldogs.

You can't compare scores, I agree, due to matchups, but you can compare offenses. Hazard is more athletic than the Jackets. I saw that. Hazard has a better QB than the Jackets. I saw that. Hazard is more physical than Williamsburg. I saw that. Hazard got stomped into the wet ground by LCA. I did not see that live, but did see some of it later. I have not seen Williamsburg get stomped flat by LCA, but I can see that it could easily be coming.

The difference is: Williamsburg now stands in the way of a matchup with Raceland and a potential State Title for LCA where Hazard was a grudge match. LCA is better than all of us (LC/W'burg and Hazard) at almost every position and are more disciplined at what they do. Williamsburg and LCA do not matchup well. LCA has size, strength and speed on the Jackets. Both teams have heart. Williamsburg has homefield, period. Won't mean much in the end.

As far as rivalry comments, you were the one talking about injuries to W'burg and how LC had stepped up their game for the Jackets. I was just trying to show, that in a big rivalry game with LC beat up badly and W'burg having a few small injuries, that W'burg struggled to score the points necessary to beat a team like LCA that is more explosive on both sides of the ball than Williamsburg. Also, Williamsburg would have been as pumped up as LC for the game.

You just blamed a 62-28 Jackets loss on "shock", but we're not allowed to say that an RB that had a huge season going and had led the team to a very good record was NOT going to be a factor in the game in '07? He got hurt in the early minutes of the 1st qtr. and he would not have been held to negative yardage (most of which came in the backfield when he collapsed on the knee.)

Don't use excuses yourself when you are going to finger point later.

Edited by DADDY CAT

For W'burg to win this game they will have to play well. The team that played the first half of the Campbellsville game needs to show up and play a complete game. Mental mistakes like those in the Paris game have to be eliminated. W'burg has a chance, they just need a huge effort for the whole game.

And they will be fried.

Not an excuse, just fact. Most of those kids made their first start at LCA. They had the deer in the headlights look. They have been much improved since that time.

So is LCA

So is LCA

LCA is a great football team, no doubt about it.

LCA started a BUNCH of very young kids last year.

LCA has not remained stagnant. IF both squads have improved equally, what makes Williamsburg so much better prepared for this year's game? LCA will still able to do the things that hurt Williamsburg last year, only better, while Williamsburg will do the things they did last year, only better, so we end up with equal improvement.

With all that's been said, let me assure the Williamsburg crowd that neither Paul Rains nor the LCA team is taking W'burg lightly.

Paul, certainly, knows how tough they can be. And he will not let the players forget it, either.

It's been said on BGP that W'burg will have to play their best game in order to win. LCA knows that the same is true for them: if LCA does not bring it's "A" game, they will not go any farther into the playoffs.

LCA does NOT consider going to the state finals as their birthright. That will have to be earned, one game at a time.

Good luck to both teams, may they play hard and injury-free.
