Played lots of people close, but could not really get over the hump.

Newport actually played some hard nose defense in this game. Newport's scores came off of two big plays. Other than that, Newport could not get a lot going on defense. Newport had some turn overs that made a big difference in the game. DeSales defense was fast and hard hitting. DeSales offense struggle at first with their passing game but came around in the second half.

 

Newport looses a lot of seniors from this group and will have to rebuild in a lot of areas for next season. Good luck seniors with your future. The final snap is always the hardest - everyone lives for their senior year until reality sits in -- it's over. Some fill with such emotion that it hurts - just a bit of advice - take all the good times and keep them with you forever - they truly are the best times of your life.

Good Job Cats. Hold your heads up high. You kept fighting. I wanted to give a shout out to the Newport Coaching staff. A few of them are personal friends of mine. Hold your heads up guys. It was the first year for their OC and their O-Line Coach. It takes more than a year and you guys know that!

Nice win for the Colts. Newport play hard all night and didn't give up. I would have to say Newport went as far as the coaching staff could take them. Good Luck to Desales next week.

Newport did play hard but as everyone knows - turnovers will do you end. Unfortunately the turnovers Newport had were costly. Newport's QB Collins - he's a good kid but no as experience as one would hope for but with some hard work and dedication he could be a big plus for the Cats next season.

I seen this as a game Newport could win but when you turn the ball over inside your own 20 twice that Desales tuned into points it was a up hill battle. Collins is a very good athlete and had a good first year at the varsity level, if he is back next year he wil be one of the if not the top QB in NKY.

I heard this was the last game for coach Hyder, if so I would like to wish him the best with what ever and where ever he is going to do.

I agree as he showed some very good promise in the games I saw him play in. He'll be up there next year by the end of the year with the likes of Nick West who I think is without a doubt the top returning QB next year.

Rule 13

Turnovers have been the demise of Newport all season fumbling the ball twice inside your own 20 was devastating for the Cats. On offense they couldn't really get much going but Oden and Slusher did break off some huge td's. I tip my cap to the Newport seniors they really turned some heads and stepped up for Coach Hyder. Good luck to DeSales in the rest of the playoffs.
