Does Weis deserve to be fired?

Featured Replies

A lot of news print talking about Weis being on the hot seat. Looking at the schedule ND has beaten a bunch of non-quality teams and lost to everyone that was decent. So has Weis improved the team in 4 seasons to justify him staying?

After last year's debacle, most felt it would be a successful season if ND finished above .500. More than likely ND will finish the regular season at 7-5, which will ensure them a winning record and a bowl game. A lot may be riding on their bowl game. Charlie's recruiting is 10x better than Willinghams. Ty was let go because of the instant staleness he brought to the program and not bringing in many pro caliber players. For all of Weis's faults, he is bringing in the kids. Do not belive me on Ty??? Look no further than Washington.

I think he is out if they do not win 9+ games next season or a top 20 finish.

I am not saying Ty was ever the right coach for ND. Just comparing the most important part of football to boosters "WINS"------No difference!

And that is a very legit argument.

I don't think he does a very good job developing his players.

When you pay a coach what Weis is making, he comes in gets the base excited and then the wheels fall off. I don't think the boosters want to go bowl down at the Gator Bowl.

I would agree. I keep hearing about all these recruits and don't see any producing. This is his first senior class this season and doesn't look like they are the caliber everyone is talking about.

The majority of the Seniors were recruited by Ty or brought in late because Weis did not take over until February. You do not hit the recruiting trail for next season's kids 4 months before they report.

You are right I was thinking this was year 5.

I don't think he does a very good job developing his players.

Even by his own admission Weis has indirectly said this. For the most part he has always coached at the NFL level and it was only about the X's and O's. Not a lot of field instruction... simply going out and running plays. He was moderately successful at this his first two seasons because he had an NFL QB and experienced kids to work with. He has handed a lot of responsbility to his assistants... I believe it has shown this season. With the exception of last week's rain game, the offense has been solid; the defense has improved a lot as well. Again, we are comparing to last season so anything would look good

I see Weis is taking over the play calling. WHat does this send to the OC?

It says as head coach that the past 6 quarters and 4 OTs we have not done squat offensively and that I now plan on taking an active role. I cannot say I fully blame him. It is still yet to be released what kind of a role Weis will have in the play calling duties. He has also stated he is going to take a more active role in the special teams as well. I cannot say I fully blame him in this instance.

Everything I have read says he is taking over the play calling. Which tells me he has no faith in the OC. I agree that the offense has been stale latley. So is ND looking for a new OC at the end of the season?

Found those on another website. The offense this season has been even or maybe a little better than when Weis was calling plays.

According to all of the rating guru's has had nothing but top 10-15 classes since taking charge of his team but has not produced very good final results/ Do you keep him?
