The weather sounds like this game might be played in the rain. If so, what will the field conditions at Male be and who would the advantage go to?

If Male is still using thier classic defense then Shelby has no shot in a power I.

No Shot. That defense was created to destroy a power running team.

 

This isn't your father's Male team. Having a defense designed to do something doesn't mean you can do it well... At least, I think this Male team is as fearful defensively as those stellar Bulldog teams of recent memory.

 

Male has given up an average of 21.7 ppg...Coach Redman's top clubs never gave up so many points. Some teams are scoring more against Male than they have averaged this year, such as...

 

...Ballard...scored 30 vs. Male...averaging 22 ppg this season

...Butler (record: 2-8)...scored 22 vs. Male...averaging 19 ppg

...Manual...scored 41 vs. Male...averaging 29 ppg

 

For the season, team are gaining over 160 yards on the ground vs. Male...

 

Bottom-line: The "fear factor" of the Male defense isn't there this year.

 

Mind you, I still think Male wins this game, but I think counting Shelby out would be a mistake. This is a very good running team, and if there's rain in the forecast, I think that's another break for Shelby. The Rockets have an excellent run-blocking front line with size and quickness.

In 93 Male at it to the title game scoring something like 1 offensive TD. Their defense and special teams scored the rest. In the 22-7 win against Shelby (in the title game) one of the scores was on a 97yd fumble recovery.

 

Male's defense is designed to stop the power run game but they do it by grabbing the legs of the OL. This is what they teach and what they have always done. Also just because you lineup in it does not mean you can stop the run game. It gives you a chance but it is not a sure thing.

 

Shelby Co is very well aware of Male's defense. Their relationship with Redman goes back to at least the 80s. Shelby's DC was on staff back in 93 and played against those defenses in the 80s.

I have no idea about either of these teams.......I'll pick Male, that's where Michael Bush went to school, and the Raiders are my favorit team; that sounds logical enough, right?
