Didn't Dixe paste another 6A school this year, was it SK? What an odd season for Dixie. I guess they have to be asking themselves what they could have done if they would have showed up for every game. I definitely looks like they may have settled with the right QB?

 

Dixie always starts the season off slow. Some question the lack of preparation in preseason. I am not close to the program and only go off of what I read on here but this could be for the slow start.

 

I must say I am impressed with their shellacking of SK and now CC. You talk about getting it when you can. They better save some of those points for the playoffs.

 

I guess credit Spritzky's wife for the QB change early in the season. I was reading an interview somewhere about families of coaches and I think it mentioned where Spritzkys wife made a comment about switching an athletic kid to a certain position. I would think this might have been the QB situation. It looks to have been a great move. Klei has had a good year also. Dixie could be very competetive in the next year as well.

I'm not sure if I saw the same Camels team from a week ago but my main point was CC got taken behind the woodshed with and without those "1st teamers" so give a little credit to Dixie for coming out and firing on all cylinders rather than making excuses.

So you're saying the WHOLE 1st team O and D didn't see the field until the second half? Weird considering Eshman scored Campbell's first Td....

 

And if you're going to use the notion of the Colonels being spotted a 28-7 lead before the first team O and D saw the field, maybe they should have stayed off the field since they got shut out 28-0 when they got in.

 

Seriously give credit where credit is due. Dixie absolutely took CC behind the woodshed last night. With or without those key players playing the first half they still would have lost by atleast 4 scores.

 

 

To add to this, Dixie scored two quick touchdowns in the 3rd on that Camels 1st team defense before the JV came in to score two more. I'm curious who those 1st teamers were that were missing in the first half. Eshman was in there, the sophomore qb who has been playing quite a bit this year from my understanding, Bishop was in there, and Rose was in there. To me, it looked like the same guys played the whole game with some usual substitutions.

I remember reading this too, but not sure who she was talking about. Wilson started the year, and started off slow. DeMatteo got the opportunity to play too. Maybe she told him to just stick with Wilson, which has paid off. However, Spritzky is letting him run the ball a lot more, and he's looking much more comfortable in the pocket. Early in the season, you could tell he wasn't comfortable back there. It just took him a while. Also, I was glad to see him put some air under the ball last night. That's been a problem of him in some games. On the deep ball, he was throwing line drives instead of putting air under the ball and letting the receivers run under it. He has definitely progressed this year into a solid qb.

The "suspensions" did not effect the offense it effected the defense. They (the 1st team defense) were still missing 2 starting seniors that were sitting on the bench during the whole game. The other thing I might say is that Eshman has NEVER played WR for the varsity team this year and the Kremer kid has not gotten as many snaps you may have thought he had this year.

 

This game was plain and simple one team wanted to play and one did not and the score reflected this. There should be no excuses on what team played when because both teams (1st & 2nd) got out played.

Still an embarassing loss for a team that was considered a contender in NKY 6-A, but let's give some credit to Dixie!! Dixie beat Conner, Holmes, Scott and Campbell - they should have beat Cov Cath -lost by two.

 

They could have beat Ryle - they lost by 9 and blew an early lead. If that long bomb TD wasn't called back Haggerty caught, and the extra points had gone in....The momentum shifted in the third quarter and they couldn't catch up. Why isn't Haggerty starting on offense when he can catch a ball like that? Not to take away from anyone out there but just seems like he has great hands.

 

SK beat Dixie soundly, thanks to Miles Simpson almost solely at the start of the season. Boone killed Dixie because of their strong running back.

 

Dixie's line looked great against CC, if they can keep up that momentum, they will be a force to be reckoned with and keep the opposition's offense off their game.

 

Dixie fans were surprized also at the ease of the win. Not to take away anything from Dixie, but it didn't seem like it could have been the same Campbell Co team that had performed so well earler in the season and either CC was protecting their starters, or people were hurt or if they had grade trouble or discipiline issues, that explains it.

 

The win was a great confidence builder but Dixie needs to keep working hard and not get over confident.

I am not aware of any CC Seniors quitting.

 

For any football fan that has followed the Camels this season, you do realize that last night's starting D and O were made up of many JV players.

 

The Camels experienced 2 consecutive disappointing losses back-to-back (SK and NCC). CC had a 7 point lead and the ball with less than 5 minutes in the NCC game and turned the ball over (fumble) on that possession. The emotional toll and disappointment of these losses lead to several key players missing a film session last week. Coach Styer disciplined these players by benching them for the first half of last night's game. While I admire Coach Styer's position, please remember that these are teenage boys that at times make unhealthy choices. They were wrong for letting their Team down.

Dixie has a nice Team but don't be foolish enough to believe that your win last night was primarily the result of improved play or that they dominated a good 6A Team. That attitude will get you bounced early in the playoffs.

 

I did admire Dixie's running game last night. They utilize several hard charging backs to effectively establish a solid ground attack.

Yes Brock is a senior.

He's a very nice player. DH is a team to watch for next season, If not for a bunch of missed catches, they could have beaten SK.
