November 5, 200817 yr Man oh man...Looking at some of these threads where people are talking about not supporting the president on anything, and other presidents wasn't given a chance and telling people they aren't affiliated with a certain religion if they vote a certain way..It got me thinking, we are no where near being called United in any way... All of this about not voting for someone based on race or party is ridiculous and should stop. What year are we in now? I mean really people, are we not mature enough to vote for someone based on qualifications, where they stand on issues and if they are the best person to fill the president role? I heard someone say yesterday that they would in no way vote for Obama because he was African American, and that was their sole reason...It's dumb, I don't care who is president as long as they are doing a good job for everyone in this country. Yes I have gave Bush a hard time, but not because he was a Republican but because, in my honest opinion, he has not helped this country in the 8 years he has been in office. I do not blame him for every single thing that has happened (recession, gas prices, etc..) but he is still responsible for some of it. It is time that everyone needs to stand up as one country and show support for our president. I would have supported McCain if he would have won last night. I will give anyone a fair chance till they prove me otherwise, and I think everyone else should to before they start criticizing him and saying all that they are...Because ya know there is something you can do if you don't like it...You can move to a different country! Have a nice day. :thumb:
November 5, 200817 yr You want to talk about divided? Imagine if McCain would have won. THAT would be divided.
November 5, 200817 yr Author You want to talk about divided? Imagine if McCain would have won. THAT would be divided. Yeah, it would no matter who won...I just get tired of it..It happened, we voted and we should support the man in the front office until he shows us he can't, then in 4 years we have another chance to elect someone else...

November 5, 200817 yr Can't remember the last time I filled my truck up for a $1.95 a gallon. I suppose Bush should get the credit for that

November 5, 200817 yr I believe in society, we are divided on ideology more than party lines. In Washington, it is all along party lines. Both parties want the power to do what they believe is best for the country (or in too many cases, best for themselves). We should vote for the candidate we believe is the best for our country. However, if you are asking someone to give up their beliefs (religon, fiscal policy, social policy, etc), that will never happen. I will never give up my belief in the sanctity of human life, the need for people to take responsibility for their own actions and destiny, etc. Say what you want about Obama (whom I did not support), but he has worked towards a goal and now he has achieved it. What a wonderful example this is for our youth. While I didn't support him, I will respect and support him now. However, if he chooses to enact legislation that I do not agree with, I will voice my opinion based on my beliefs. This has nothing to do with race/religon/party affiliation, ... I have voiced my disagreement with McCain on immigration reform and his signing of the $700 bailout bill. I will not support what I believe is wrong just because someone else thinks my beliefs are outdated.

In simple terms I'm just asking for people to give him a chance that he has earned, if he proves as a failure then we get to revote in 2012.

I will gives his fiscal policies a chance, even if I don't think they will work. If they do work, I will be gladly be wrong (my wife says I should be used to that ) and give him an Atta Boy. After all, I want what is best for America. However, on social issues, I will not give up my core beliefs for ANYONE. :thumb:

November 5, 200817 yr SvFan4life, you claim we don't support Obama because of his party affiliation or his race. That's because you've been listening too hard to his and the media's rhetoric. You can't allow for the fact that we so disagree with his stance on the issues and the policies he wants to implement that that is the reasons we can't support him. If he continues on the path he ran his campaign on, I can not offer one iota of support for him. If he moves toward center and comes up with some sensible ideas, then I can get on board. BTW, why should I move to a different country because I disagree with Obama's plan for this country? Don't I have that right anymore? I think I'll stay if it's OK with you and vote against him in 4 years if he does an unsatisfactory job for my liking.
