Raceland's "Big Man" - Robbie Logan

One mean streak

Raceland’s leader on the line, Logan’s laid-back style known to turn from time to time on the football field

By ADAM VANKIRK — The Independent

RACELAND — If there’s one thing you don’t want to do to Robby Logan, it’s make him mad. At least on the football field anyway.

Whatever lit a fire in Logan during the Rams’ game against the Musketeers on Oct. 3 turned a nice opening drive for the home team into a 40-6 blowout in no time.

Logan ripped through the Musketeers’ line like it didn’t even exist, sacking the quarterback three times and returning a punt block for a touchdown. Oh yeah, all of that was in the first quarter alone, too.

Logan benches 330, squats 525 and clean lifts 320. That’s pretty scary when you consider Maynard says his footwork and speed might be his best attributes as a lineman.

Does he have any offers from any colleges or universities?

Through eight games Logan has 23 solo tackles, 15 assists, 4 fumble recoveries, 1 returned 30 yards for a touchdown. Sacks are not listed but I would guess that he has 8 sacks, and several more tackles for a loss.

And, 3.7 GPA

Marshall and Eastern Kentucky have been very interested and contacted him multiple times. Georgetown has made contact, and he has vitited Georgtown. I was also told by someone very close to him that Iowa has called. UK has contacted him and he has made a visit to UK.

I look for him to have multiple D1, and many D2 offers.

He is a great player and I have seen many at all levels of play, I really wish eastern Kentucky would get the looks at great players from the powers that be. Logan is the man...

I've been telling everyone that will listen. The boy is a player.:thumb:

Ram, I had not heard about Iowa, but one of the defensive coaches from EKU took a job at Purdue in the off season and had told their coaches about him. I know they have shown a lot of interest in him, but I am not sure what the status is right now.

I will tell you right now, I want Nathaniel to grow up to be a young man like Robbie. I could care less if he plays ball as well as Robbie, as long as he conducts his life like Robbie. Robbie is a class kid and I think the world of him.

I hope he gets an offer to go where he wants to and they give him a chance to compete.

Thanks for the thread and link Ram. This young man deserves all the praise given to him and then some. Besides being a great football player he is an excellent student. The article mentioned the GCHS game and that was an awesome performace. I will also say that after watching te replay's/film of last Friday's game with Russell that Logan should maybe recieve an honorary Russell jersey:eek:, seemed like Rob was in the Russell backfield more than the Russell backs were ;). That btw is not meant as a cut on Russell at all, they (Russell) are a very good team and are always known for good line play, rather it was meant to stress how good Rob Logan is.

The football stats are impressive and they match the physical stature of this young man...but the high GPA impresses me perhaps more than the gridiron accomplishments.

For 99.99% of these players, there is a moment which life after football comes sooner rather than later…sounds like Mr. Logan will be fine after he hangs up the cleats.

"Total Package":ylsuper:

Nice article and one that is well deseved. It is great to see the kids get recognition for all their hard work and dedication on the field and in the classroom.

Great write up on Robby Logan. What a wonderful kid and wonderful family. He deserves to go where ever he wants to. Robby would do good at any school. While reading this in this morning's paper, it brought tears to my eye's. I pray that this young man keeps up the good work on and off the football field. Keep up the good work Robby Logan!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thes kid is truly a great player! The best part about him I think is his awareness of the football on every down. Even if he doesnt make the tackle his right next to the guy who does. IT doesnt matter if its 25 yards downfield. He goes all out until the whistle blows. One of the best up front guys Racelands ever had period! And if im not mistaken he runs a sub 4.7 in the 40. He has all the intangeables of a great football player. Size, strength, awareness, and heart.

He is a very good lineman. I didn't realize he was a 3 year starter on both sides of the ball. No wonder Raceland is so good this year! :-)

I hope he gets to play somewhere in college.

Robbie is a great player and I hear he is a true leader on the field. I wish him well in the future.
