Football Fever:

LC/WCHS has been a continuous series. No break that I can remember. They were on our schedule the first time during the 1966 season.

LC and Williamsburg have played at least since 1947. I have all of LC's schedules and results in front of me from 1948-1979 and Williamsburg is on every one of them during that period. If there was a break there, it was after '79.

In the 1970 and 1971 games, LC and W'burg tied 20-20 both years. I thought that was odd.

On the seventh day God rested. The following Friday Male played Manual for the 1st time, and they have played ever since. LOL

Manual and Male have played every year that they've had a team. The overall record is in Male's favor, 79-39-6. The first game was played in 1893. Male's 1894 season consisted of two games against Manual and one game against Crescent Hill. Their 1897 schedule consisted of three games against Manual and one against Louisville Law. Manual did not field a team from 1915-1918, so the series stopped then, but was resumed in 1919, with 0-81 loss to Male.

Dayton/Bellevue is one of the oldest, but is the most played game in the state.

Newport Central Catholic and Newport High, they play for the Firemans Bell nto sure exactly how long it dates back too but is has been for a very, very, very long time.

Caldwell County and Trigg County have played every year since 1954, when Caldwell Couny became a consolidated district. Before then, Trigg County played Princeton Butler every year from 1938-53. Trigg was formed in 1938. Princeton Butler evolved into Caldwell County in 1953.

 

Owensboro and Daviess County have played every year since 1955, with Owensboro winning 45 of the 54 career games.

 

I think Mayfield and Tilghman have played every year since 1911

Madisonville and Hopkinsville have been playing each other since 1907, however, they did not play in 1983 and 1984 seasons. Played at least one game every other year, and in many years played twice.

WYMT-TV reported after the Pineville - Harlan game in Week 4 that Male/Manual was first, Mayfield/Tilghman second, and Harlan/Pineville third for longest active streak.

Pretty cool Pineville Harlan is 3rd longest.

That's a storied rivalry...doesn't one of the schools do a traditional "march" to the stadium?

 

Yeah, some kids usually get on bikes and ride to paducah, its at least a 20 mile trip from Mayfield to Paducah.
