What I was saying is if Iran were to attack them, it would be with a nuke IMO. That would devastate a country the size of Israel. We would have to intervene in that situation.

The Palestinians and other Arab govts in the region need to do more to control their radicals. If they just sit back and let these radicals operate from their country, then Israel has no choice but to consider them enemies and treat them as such.

 

Arabs need to show the world that they are willing to fight radicals, even if it is their neighbor or their brother. They need to show the world they care about the world, if they want the world to care about them. That's my opinion anyways.

I think we should support Israel all the we possibly can, as I'm sure they'd do the same for us.

While it is unfortunate that said things are indeed occurring much of the blame for what ahs happened to the displaced populace in the region lays at the doorstep of many of the neighboring countries. While it is unfortunate that many were displaced in the Israeli War of Independence of 1948, the Six-Day War in '67 and the Yom-Kippur War of '73, none of the neighboring countries made any attempts to assimilate these displaced peoples. Had they done so, the refugee camps that became hotbeds of anti-semitism, anti-westernism and breeding grounds for suicide bombers would not have existed near as long. Those people could have bolstered their adoptive countries and lived more fruitful lives.

 

 

That said, I know it was unfortunate and sad what happened to many a Palestinian in this whole era of violence and unrest. I know that the Israeli's in '48 led operations(led by Ariel Sharon) that involved displacing Palestinian civilians. Their hands are by no means clean. However the fact that unlike the Romans being forced to accept the Visigoths and Ostrogoths into their empire the Palestinians, Syrians, Jordanians and Egyptians by and large are all Arab peoples. They have ethnic ties unlike the aforementioned people under whom a civilization collapsed.

 

Both sides are at fault, but I lay the current situation firmly at the feet of the neighboring Arab states.

No but the Israeli's were somewhat created by the US, we can't just leave them hanging once it's not convenient, I'd hope if the tables were turned they wouldn't do that to us. Not to mention that they're a key player for us in the region. If a multi nation war broke out in the middle east they'd be a key ally.

I like your analysis a lot. You point out a good comparison with the Romans and with the Israeli wars. I've thought Israel has had moments when they were too aggressive in their actions or reactions, but at the same time a lot of this could have been better if other "concerned" Arabs had acted to aid the Palestinians. :thumb:
