Everyone always attacks Political Correctness, but IMO, what's missing in the world today are plain, old-fashioned manners. Everyone wants to be able to say and do what they want, regardless of what it does to someone else's feelings. When the heck did it become a bad thing to have manners? :confused: What ever happened to respect for others? :confused: Yet somehow George Bush is subject to a considerable lack of respect daily, and there isn't any real public outrage.
October 30, 200817 yr My reply to this situation is simple....Both the Obama and Palin effigy are stupid, immature, and the responsible parties should be held accountable by whatever the law allows, if anything. That being said, anyone, and I mean anyone, that believes this is a bigger deal than the Palin incident is simply trying to turn this into a race related issue and nothing more. Both are equally disgusting and anyone trying to say one is worse than the other is just as bad as those that committed the acts IMO.

There are real nuts everywhere, .. on the left and on the right. You can't just ignore the ones on your side and condemn the others as being the only nutjobs. October 30, 200817 yr We hung an effigy of our grade school principal (Ms Rhiney, aka Rhino) at a pep rally, back in the day. It was all in good fun we thought. Of course, that would be prison time now, and possibly a hate crime depending on what prosecutor steps into the courtroom. Are you serious? I never would have considered doing something like that at any time in my life, for any reason.

October 30, 200817 yr The Sarah Palin doll hanging from a house in Hollywood was disgusting, sickining and yes, imo a hate crime. This one found on U.K.'s campus....I found equally as disgusting and I also consider it a hate crime. I sincerely hope that the pin head idiot that did this is found and prosecuted, if a student, kicked out of school. There is absolutely no excuse for either this act or the one with the Palin effigy out in Hollyweird. Maybe the no class clowns that did this could move out there and be neighbors with the ones that did that act as well. Both were classless, disgusting acts and they deserve to be united in their own miserable lives in California where crap like this is accepted. Hollywood would love them. I must say that I was happy to see an outcry for this act in Lexington as opposed to the sentiment in California. The one in West Hollywood was seemingly considered..."Oh well", business as normal where then same disgusting act here has been condemmed by most.

October 30, 200817 yr I firmly believe that both acts are protected by the Second Amendment (Of course, that and many other traditional rights may change after January 20, 2009.). Many of you see both as criminal in nature. That's fine since all have a right to their opinion. However, my concern is that many seem to feel that the hanging of Obama is more serious than the hanging of Palin. Such a position supports the creation of a privileged group. That is not constitutional. Our country is based upon the premise that all are created equal with equal protection under the law. To advocate otherwise for special treatment of a certain group, regardless of the rational used to do so, is not in the best interests of any of us- even the special group.
