October 28, 200817 yr I don't think Tenn would move the ball very well either. I also think Pitt has a better passing game.[/QUOTE] Agreed. But only if Big Ben isn't sacked numerous times or pressured into making mistakes. I think Tenn D line could cause havoc for Pitts O. Willy Parker could be the key if healthy.

October 28, 200817 yr 5... at what point do you see Young taking back over? Hard to say...I'm pretty sure Collins will be a FA after this year and the guys on MNF said Collins said he wanted to be a starting QB next year. If he continues to play well and the Titans continue to win and play the way they have, it would be a tough call to let Collins leave and turn the keys back over to Vince, IMO. What if Tennessee gets to the Super Bowl, or even wins it? Imagine the pressure on VY if they let Collins go so he could take over. The fans would be very unforgiving. To be honest, I really don't know. My gut tells me Collins will be gone after this year because some team will offer him more than Tennessee can pay to keep him and Young will step back in as the starter in '09.
October 28, 200817 yr The Titans are a very good team right now. They do not have an explosive offense, but they are built to win in the playoffs, which is what it takes to win a super bowl. They have a very good running game and a solid defense. It'll come down to them and the Steelers IMO in the AFC. I think that would be a fun game to watch...talk about physical and hard hitting. I think it would be similar to the Giants/Steelers game last week, only amplified by the playoffs. I would expect a brutally physical, hard hitting, low scoring game that could go either way. My assessment... QB - Pittsburgh RB - Tennessee WR - Pittsburgh OL - Tennessee DL - Tennessee LB - Pittsburgh DB - Tennessee ST - Push (both are solid, IMO) But, I think it would be more fair to analyze it this way... Rushing Offense - Tennessee Passing Offense - Pittsburgh Rush Defense - Pittsburgh Pass Defense - Tennessee I think the difference in the game would be if the Titans could take advantage of the Steelers o-line and Ben's knack for holding on to the ball to not only get some sacks, but to translate that into some forced TO's that result in points, either directly, or by setting the offense up with a short field. I think if the Steelers could take care of the ball and not give points away, that Big Ben and their offense could likely hit on a 3 or 4 big plays that could very well be the difference in the game. So, IMO, I think a potential Steelers/Titans matchup would come down to the Steelers passing attack and whether 1) the Titans can take advantage of a weak o-line to get pressure, force Ben into some mistakes and turn those into points or 2) the Steelers can eliminate mistakes, grind it out, and then capitalize on the big play opportunities when they arrive. The Colts just missed on two or three plays last night that could have been TD's or put them in good position to score...had they hit those, it may have been a different outcome. I'd love to see the Titans and Steelers in the AFC Championship Game.

If they win the SB, or even go to the SB, they must try to trade Vince Young, and go drafting for someone who only needs a year carrying a clipboard. Good QBs can be found all up and down the draft, seemingly regardless of round. They could package VY to move up, if necessary. Cincy may be selling low on Carson Palmer by that point.

That's not going to happen. Young would have little trade value, if any. The Titans are going to stick with him and give him another chance to be their QB. I would prefer to see them keep Collins as the starter for another year. If that doesn't happen, I really hope they find a quality backup who can guide this team if Vince can't get it done. But, we'll cross that bridge in the off-season. Right now, Kerry Collins is the starter, the team is playing great, and barring injury, it will stay that way the rest of the season.

I don't think Collins will get any big offers this off season. He's getting up there in age and it's not like he has done anything spectacular to lead this Titans team to a 7-0 start. He has been very average.

He's getting up there in age and it's not like he has done anything spectacular to lead this Titans team to a 7-0 start. He has been very average. If he keeps playing well and leads the Titans to a deep playoff run, I'd be surprised if somebody doesn't make him a pretty good offer to be a stop-gap starter until they can get their QB of the future and get him ready. I don't know how "big" the offer will be. I'm just afraid it will be more than Tennessee is willing to pay to keep him. That's all I meant. If the Titans want to keep Haynesworth, they're going to be shelling out some major cash, and with Vince already there, I'm not sure how high they could, or would, be willing to go to keep a guy like Collins. His stats aren't eye-popping, but I'd classify his play as a little better than average. He's running this team exactly the way he's asked, which results in low numbers...but most importantly, he's making all the big plays to win games when necessary. I'd say his play to date this season has been very comparable to past Super Bowl winning QB's that rode strong D's and running games to the title, while making some timely plays when called upon to do so (Eli/Giants, Ben/Steelers, Johnson/Bucs, Dilfer/Ravens, and even Brady with the Pats in their first title run).
