District Champions

I listened from about midway through the 2nd on, Monroe had a lot of long, methodical drives running the ball, and they are a passing team. Green's offense seemed flat, and their announcers claimed they missed Rogers pretty badly. Monroe had a defender named Neil Wilson that was everywhere.

I feel that the long drive Monroe County had going into halftime determined the outcome of this game. Monroe County consumed over six minutes off the clock and took a 14-13 lead going into halftime with the momentum.

Wow. Really thought Green could give some fits to their side of the bracket. Not that they still can't, but this puts things into a different perspective.

What a game!!!! If you missed this one you missed a great high school football game! Non Stop action...Monroe looked great even with a few to many turnovers. IMO Green did suffer from Rogers being out but in turn we also had Hamilton out...Both starting tail backs. We ran the ball extremely well. I have to give a shout out to Caleb Maxey tonight, this kid runs with all he's got. He truly epitomizes the high school tailback position. Great job Caleb!!!

I feel Monroe and Green represented our district very well tonight with a very hard fought battle from the go!!

I also feel I need to take a second a recognize the lines...Monroe Quarterback Justin Harlan had all night to throw the ball...He was never even close to getting touched in the back field...AWESOME job in the trenches!!!!

Seems like you are really confident considering the Falcons have only scored 1 TD in the last 8 quarters against the Dragons. The Dragon defense has pitched back to back shutouts and the offense is averaging around 50 pts. a game. I won't give my prediction, I will just say, "Buckle your chin strap, you're gonna get hit!"

This game will not be as close as everyone thinks. The Dragons are in a different league then anyone else in this district. This team has a destiny and thats to be playing in December at Papa Johns.

Listen, we could go at this for days. I believe you are underestimating Green Co. as well. All I know is when the final buzzer sounds at Dragon stadium on Friday night, one team will be district champs and the other will hang their heads in defeat. The team that wins will have to earn it. I really don't like excuses because that is what will be given. Preparing for teams like this is really what makes me enjoy coaching. See ya Friday!

After tonight games in the districts we have a pretty good idea how the playoffs match-ups will play out. Bardstown and Fort Knox still left to play tomorrow. The first round playoffs should look like this.

District 3 District 4

No. 1 Monroe County vs. No. 4 Fort Knox

No. 2 Green County vs. No. 3 Washington County

No. 3 Metcalfe County at No. 2 Bardstown

No. 4 Glasgow at No. 1 Danville

With all that being said, Green County won the regular season district title last year but were gone by round two of the playoffs. Monroe County will have Bardstown coming to town for the second round this year. Their plate will definitely be full.
