I am not sure of the disdain. I asked a question. Why are you choosing not to answer it, but say that you have an answer to it.

 

When Bush won the first time I was hopeful. I did vote for Gore and liked Gore, but I was hopeful. When Bush won the second time, I was again hopefully, but less convinced.

I assume the celebration is for multiple reasons. #1, many people are glad to see the politician that is farthest from Bush be elected. #2, some are just happy to see the democratic candidate get elected. #3, MANY are thrilled to see a step forward toward the vision that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr had of our country.

 

I'll assume that #3 is what you are referring to. In the other 55 elections, we have not voted a black president into power. There were no riots. I am not sure why it is supposedly "a given" that there would be this time, if again, a white president were elected.
