Silver Grove ?

Featured Replies

Didn't the Big Trains sow the seeds for a varsity program in the not too distant past? Anyone know if they're still in the process?

They had a youth team - middle school - but I'm not sure what has happened to them.

Not sure of the #s, but I'd imagine that it would be real difficult for the Trains to field a varsity football team.

IMO - if you have kids at a small school such as Silver Grove that have the desire to play football then perhaps there should be someway that they can play at another school without penalty.

He did...and then he played at Kentucky.

I know that they were suppose to play Walton Middle School but cancelled due to lack of numbers.

What do you mean by without penalty? Trying to understand, do you mean attend one school but actually play for another school or do you mean attend the other school without transfer rules and tuition applying?

My thought is that say for example you really enjoy the school you are presently attending but yet they do not have a football program - why not be able to play for another school.

That used to happen some. The smaller schools that did not have football would allow the students to participate on a another's school football team.

Not sure about today if that is happening????

My only requirement would be that they would have to play for a school that is within their school district.

I think that is an interesting idea. Lots of issues to work out with what schools they could attend and insurance issues if someone got hurt. Of course, people could argue that if we don't do it for academics why would we do it for athletics?
