It sure would be nice for Monte to get on at UK but for some reason Kentucky never really recruits kickers. Regardless with all the good kickers in the state right now if UK get one I am afraid to say we may still see one of ours kicking for the orange and white.

He'll get offers just later than everyone else. It takes a while I remember Popham from Covcath who is at Wake Forest now, but everyone was wondering the same on him. Where are the offers?? He was the best kicker around.

It will be great to see Merrick get a college scholarship and get a free education. I believe he is bar none the best kicker in the state. In warmups he kicks 60 yard fgs 1 right after the other. Its a great weapon to pin everyone back at the 20 yard line too.

I think UK has had second thoughts and are now back recruiting him according to Cats Pause.

 

But yes I agree seeing a Ky kid in Orange and white would be hard on the eyes.

It makes no sence why big time colleges waite on giving kickers an offer. A kicker will win or lose 2 or more games a year for a team.

That's better than what they did with Boyle's Taylor Begley. I think Mississippi State was the only offer before or during the season, untill the UK offer (I believe it was way after the season.) They wanted him to walk on first.

Well, I will be happy for this young man to just get the chance to go to a major D-1 school and further his education and athletic career. He has earned that and deserves the chance. Someone will get a talented young kicker!
