I'm not knocking the parents (because I'm one) however, some do have a tendency to see their child with rose colored glasses on. Maybe he should let the parents know that if they persist in getting in his face that they are welcomed to watch the game through the gym doors. Don't think for one second a kid is not embarrassed when the parent(s) acts like a fool. It would be nice to see him get a little more passionate with his coaching techniques. I'm not a coach, but I've been to what seems to be a million games and have seen many coaching styles. IMO the ones who show passion on the side lines get the most results. I'm not saying you have to be a horses backside, but if the kids see your enthusiasm I feel it tends to generate it on the court.

 

:thumb:I couldn't agree more!!! I would like to see that out of him my self. That honestly is something I been thinking for a long time. I know I played for him in baseball when he coached baseball, and we all would have liked to see that. When coaches do that, as a player it makes you feel more like the coach really cares, and is going to stick up for you. Yeah of coarse you don't want to go overboard with it. However can't be scared to say something to a ref or an umpire, and just show some enthusiam. Kids will respond to that, if a coach does that. Players may not like some things a coach does, however they will respect seeing their coach stick up for them and just showing emotion. And that could go a long way into having success. :thumb:

I would think Frasure at Fleming Co. needs to win games this year.

In the 12th region I would think Robert Jones from McCreary Central would be leading the pack after a couple of years of less than stellar big game performances. I would also think that Coach Jackson has raised the bar for coaches here in the 12th. Go Lincoln!

He went 14-16 with all sophmores last season.

I feel Boone's coach should be on the hot seat as well. There is no excuse for not making the region with all the talent he had last year. I understand a lot of the players were young, but they still had more talent than St. Henry, who almost lost to Villa Madonna in the region. St. Henry out coached Boone in the games they played last year. I expect Boone to make it to atleast the regional semifinals or its a terrible season in my book.

Nelson Cundiff at Mercer Co.

Mercer has a potential stud in Junior Jamel Taylor and they have a good group of Sophmores to go with him. However, outside forces may not give Nelson another season to see them mature. I hope that they leave him alone and let him get this program going in the right direction.

I have to agree with dreamland and alwaysascottie. Mcreary has not been to the region the last couple of years and been ranked pretty high. I would say anything less than a regional final would be considered a disapointment for Rob Jones and company. I have been to see Boyle and Mercer the last 3 years and I think Boyle won all 3 games. I told my wife when we left last year that I thought Mercer had more talent than Boyle every year but we always beat them. It must be a difficult job with the consolidation!

Rebel Man, you are exactly right! Mercer did have more talent the past couple of years but they just have not meshed.

Nelson's first year was a big challenge due to the merger but the mix of a new coach and new school did not go over well with the players.

Of course, everyone knows what happened last year.

IMO, there is absolutely NO reason as to why Mercer should not be contending for the region title on a yearly basis!

Hopefully, the new gym (it is going to be sweet) will instill some pride into the team and bring them all together.

Im saying he should do alot better with all juniors. The team has some talent and winning 14 games with a weak schedule isnt much to brag about. Also havent been to the regional tourney since moving to the 16th while playing in a weak district.
