Cats Pause 13th Region Top teams and players?

Featured Replies

Just curious. Has Clay County's basketball program slipped or has the region just got tougher?

It has slipped some. They still have had good coaches. But Bobby Keith is 1 of the top 3 or 4 coaches to ever coach in this state. Its hard to live up to what he did.

Talent has slipped too.

When Bobby Keith was there he drew in a lot of talent. Players wanted to come play for him because he was such a great coach.

I loved the old Clay Co. teams. They could really play some ball.:jump:

How can the defending champs that return three starters and one of the regions best jv teams be ranked second to Corbin, when they beat them three times last season?

South Laurel lost two starters. Corbin lost none, and they were second. That doesn't seem that hard to understand.

Corbin didn't lose anyone...Correct. But, South still has Wright and Denney. I like SL chances this year.

To a previous post. I believe North Laurel JV went something like 19-2 last season.

Bottom line I think the 13th region is freakin loaded with talent. Its not easy to pick ten teams and ten players.

I like their chances too. It's not like they are ranked 12th.

You aren't kidding, I still remember almost shedding a tear in '85 when they lost to Hopkinsville in the finals. They had one impressive run during the '80's.

Who are the players to watch for Knox Central? I just saw on their schedule that they'll meet Holmes at the Bryan Station Defenders of the Station Classic. Interesting match up IMO.

Knox Central has the number 1 player in the 13th Region according to Cats Pause in Cody Miller. He is a 6'5 junior who has talent and size it says. I just picked up my Catspause yearbook last night at Borders and havent put it down but once. : )

Miller avg 22 pts a game last year and the only other returning scorer is Chris Messer who avg 10 pts. They do have a couple nice young guards but I would expect Holmes to win this one. Oh, they were 24-8 last year.
