October 6, 200817 yr Watson is hurt so that wouldn't be an option either way. Watson isn't even a Bengals anymore, so it definitely isn't an option.
October 6, 200817 yr How long has "Oops" been with the club? What exactly has he done in that time frame to suggest he is a starting RB in the NFL? Would anyone else like to have seen S. Jackson drafted instead of Oops?

October 6, 200817 yr What good does bringing up the draft do now? Just pointing out how bad this org is in evaluating talent. I can forgive fans for thinking some of these players are decent, but a professional org that passes on a Jackson to get a Perry should be admonished at every turn. They are horrible.
October 6, 200817 yr It really doesn't matter. Neither are the answer, nor the sole problem, with the rushing attack or what ails this offense. Their offensive line, for whatever reason, is very poor. The play-calling and schemes are poor. The passing game does little anymore to support the run game. You could have Barry Sanders, or Walton Payton, or Gale Sayers, or Bronco Nagurski for that matter, as the Bengals' RB and they still would average about 3.0 yards a carry. Benson carried the ball 10 times for 30 yards. One carry was for 10 yards, so he rushed for 20 yards his other 9 carries, a 2.2 YPC average. Not sure what anyone saw during those 2 yards to indicate he had such a great burst of speed . . . . He's okay, nothing special, and certainly not some panacea for the Bengal's woeful rush attack.

Didn't they by trading down end up getting Deltha Oneal who had a pro bowl season in 2005 and was a big part of why the Bengals made the playoffs in 2005. Plus the Bengals were looking for that change of pace back, which Perry was. They had Rudi who just had a good year, so they weren't looking for that #1 back. At the time trading down and helping the defense and then gettng Perry to be that change of pace back was a good decision. If Perry would have stayed healthy those first few years, he would have made a huge difference as that change of pace back out of the back field for Rudi when Rudi was in his Prime.

After the first couple of run plays with Benson. The cowboys knew anytime Benson was in the game, that the Bengals was going to run the ball. They didn't pass one single time when he was in. (Bratkowski has this offense so predictable) So once they realized that, they focused on it. I mean I even knew after the first two plays, well anytime Benson is in today we are not going to pass. Once he learns the offense, he is going to be a very good back for the Bengals.

But if you insist, have at it. Put him on your fantasy team and make sure to start him every game.

There is no way to knowing you will be right at all. You can go back to the Bears and all that junk. However when he was with the Bears, did he have a passing game anyone feared? No they did not. Were teams just usually stacking the line and dearing turnover Grossman to beat them, yes they were. Has now Benson been giving a second chance at a NFL career. Yes he has, and he seems to have realized it. So definitely look for him to be a better running back and running harder than he ever did in Chicago. Also even though the Bengals passing game has not been that great, teams still have been fearing it and not putting 8 people in the box. They still double team Chad and TJ, so Benson is going to have to not deal with people stacking the line now. He is going to be ten times better than he ever was in Chicago once he knows the offense.

Ya don't draft 3rd down backs in the 1st round.:scared:

By trading down they got an extra pick. Franchise RT Stacey Andrews. Brilliant!!

As Joe Biden said at the debate last week, the past is prologue. Benson has done nothing in his past to make anyone think he's going to suddenly turn into a stud back. Could he? Maybe. But his past track record is a logical basis to look at when forming opinions about his future. The Bengals passing game is still being feared by their opponents? I didn't realize that. For some reason I've been under the impression - false, apparently - that their passing game is in absolute shambles. Someone needs to send out a memo to the other NFL teams and remind them how good the Bengals' passing game really is and that if they would just respect the greatness of this part of their offense it would greatly help out our RB's, including future Hall-of-Famer Benson.
