I have been very gracious to any and all opponets whether is be in victory or defeat. I think that my post in the past and fans from all schools will prove that out. I apologize if that was taken in any other way, just a figure of speech.

Congrads to the entire Ram team on another win. Great Job Robbie Logan. The line will always be near and dear to my heart. I totally agree with cvillecat about penalities. They were fixed but we are just receiving to many. I know the coaches will take care of that in practice. Thank you ryanparker on your support outside of your team. It is always appreicated by a Ram.

For every long run there is always a great block by a WR. For every 1st down an offensive lineman made it possible.

I have one question. Just one. 4th and 4, not 4th and 1, 4th and 4, QB sneak? Someone explain please. Its had me confused since last night. OK I lied. Question 2, I know that Smith ran the ball well last night, but is there a reason Lyle didnt touch the ball the entire 1st & 3rd quarters? It seemed he was getting 8 to 10 yrds every time he touched the ball. Including a great TD run that got called back.Question 3, Dillow ran like a beast last night. Anyone who watched this kid in middle school and freshman year knew that he could do this. Why is this the first time he has ran the ball in 3 years? I have more but I will wait on the answers to these for now.

I'm not sure if I have answers or more questions, but here goes:

1. I have no idea, it baffled me as well. I suppose the argument could be made that he was trying to catch the defense off guard, but I don't know. I did love the fans yelling for the QB sneak in the 4th quarter on a 4th and 3.

 

2. I don't know the answer to this one either, but Greenup looked very good when running from the Power I formation. I think they did a lot better in that run oriented attack. Moved the ball well.

 

3. Again, I don't know enough about Dillow to know how often he touches the ball, but he seemed to do well when given the opportunity last night.

 

 

I have some questions since we are asking:

1. Why did Greenup not have a safety on first downs against a team that passes decently?

2. Why did Greenup walk their OLB up on the line and leave only the MLB on the second level versus a team that is running the ball pretty well?

3. Why does Greenup not roll Craft out more to give him an opportunity to pass the ball, when their OL is struggling?

 

I wish Greenup County luck, I just hope they can correct some things and learn from this game.

Come on Sun. You know that there is an assigning secretary that assigns officials for varsity games, and a school has nothing to do with it. As for the JFL games, there is also an informal assigning secretary that schedules officials for those games. Most, if not all, the officials do JFL, Jr high, freshman, JV, and varsity games.

 

What if Raceland's JFL played away today? Would there be a problem? I know about 85% of the officials in the area, does that mean that they are going to call Raceland games different? I am sure you, or others from Greenup County, know many of the officials, just as I do, and there are people from Russell, Ashland, Fairview, and Boyd County that know many of the officials. Does that mean they are going to treat teams differently?

A sane person would also understand the concept of "beatdown" as well.

The assigning secretary needs to be aware of communities that certain officials operate in.

 

Obviously, Raceland would have won last night without the officials' mistakes. That is not the point of this post.

 

The point is that the assigning secretary and other crews need to be aware that Greenup County will no longer tolerate inappropriate officiating that endangers the safety of our players.

 

1.) Helmet to helmet (several times)

2.) Late hit out of bounds (several times)

 

Non-safety tidbits from the game.

 

1.) Inadvertant whistle on the Interception return for a TD.

2.) Holding penalty on GC's OL that was called simply because the Ram player fell to the ground. (The GC player isn't strong enough to drive your player into the ground.) That was the play that Lyle made it to the 2 yard line, I believe.

 

There are others, but I'll leave it at that. These aren't sour grapes. But, the officials are making it difficult for the kids at GCHS to enjoy the game of football.

 

Let's hope that the officials don't affect the Boyd County/Greenup County game this week.

 

(BTW, I hope that Raceland wins Class 1A this year!)
