Obama

Because I hate to lose and he will win.

Honestly, it is time for huge change in this Country. McCain = the same.

Change at what expense? Change can be worse, especially when you really know so little about a candidate.

What honest good changes do you actually believe Obama will bring you?

Not a wasted vote at all! This is the same rhetoric that keeps Dempublicans in power and allows the current crop of poor candidates that they present to us. Plus, if Barr is able to get the needed percentage of votes Libertarians will be recognized on KY ballots and won't have to waste money attempting to get ballot access. This way you will be able to say that you were part of the solution and not part of the problem.

Finally, in KY a vote for either Dempublican is a wasted vote. Either you are going to help McCain win a little bit more or help Obama lose by a little bit less. Either way, KY is locked up for sure!

Wrong. It's a wasted vote. Not a chance a third party is going to win. How can you even think otherwise? BTW, I wish I was wrong about this, but I'm not.

So I'm wrong about ballot access?

It's easy to be right when what you say is self-fulfilling.

Like HootGibson said in another thread, however, a 3rd-party candidate won't be elected POTUS until his/her party has more of a status on local, statewide, and national politics. It starts with us electing Libertarians and other independents at that level, but nevertheless, a third-party candidate could win an election if everyone's attitude that he was destined to lose. Furthermore, even if that is the case, any votes they receive allow them ballot access, which is a tool of the Dempublicans (as FKYwrestler so elegantly put) to keep the independents out.

Essentially, the D's and R's want to pigeon-hole everyone in America into two cookie-cutter groups of positions (which, ironically, the D's and R's aren't really backed by any political philosophy- their positions are simply an assortment of ideals that will buy particular votes from particular people) and that just simply is not the case.

I couldn't agree more with this statement! That is an assertion that I attempted to make in another thread a few weeks back! I think I was being to dim to get there though...lol. Nicely put!

McCain is going to win Kentucky. So why not record a protest vote for a 3rd party candidate?

Personally I will vote mccain simply being the lesser of two evils. Obama has not done anything to win this election, accept say he is not affiliated with Bush. When ever a serious question he can not answer is asked he simply brushes it off, and the media gives him a pass on it. The whole Ayers thing is an example. Honestly look at what can turn around our economy as a whole, taxation is not the answer.

Gas is too expensive.

But the sacrifices of those who died in the American Revolutionary War (and other wars) to create and sustain a country which is governed by the people and for the people- well, those weren't too much to give.

:thumb: That's it!

McCain. Obama's past associations, and his refusal to honestly and openly address them, make him an unacceptable candidate to me.

But I will say this. I am not nearly as taken with Palin as some other pro-McCain persons. I do not find her folksy, rural charm all that endearing and most certainly do not think she was the best choice for McCain's VP. But not even close to enough of a negative to make me cast a vote for Bill Ayer's friend. (yeah, yeah, I know - cheapshot. Just having fun. ;))

The reason is plain and simple, money.
The reason is plain and simple, money.

You are correct. They need more money. But wouldn't it be nice if they didn't have to spend the money that they do have on ballot access? That way the message would get out to more people.

The only way to change the system is within the system. I intend to cast my vote for Bob Barr with that in mind!

You can continue to call my vote wasted all you want, but if Bob Barr gets the necessary percentage of votes, then my vote is a step towards fixing what is wrong with this country. I don't know if it will be wasted or not, but I think when Senator McCain or Senator Obama pushes another piece of socialist legislature through, I'll sleep a lot better at night knowing that I didn't do a thing to support it, but instead attempted something else.

I just have to say that I think this is a pretty good (respectable) post. I like how you have not jumped on the Palin bandwagon simply because you are a conservative. :thumb: (Not that you needed my support :D, just stating a position.)
