It's my opinion that people do indeed place too much emphasis on "experience." If experience were important there would be apprenticeships to the President or a Constitutionally mandated amount of specific service required. Having been an executive doesn't make a person more likely to be a better President. Having the right ideas and having the right intangibles to implement them are far more important. At least, that's my opinion.

 

Palin's experience is arguably comparable with Obama's. But, when Palin can't articulate a single cogent thought on the bailout or foreign policy and attempts to mitigate concerns about it with the idea that because of Alaska's geographic relationship to Russia she's somehow experienced in the area I can't help but feel a bit insulted. Even when she has attempted a to-the-point answer she's pre-empted and contradicted McCain's stances. You can point at Obama's stammering and vocal pauses all day, but at least knows the major arguments, which side he advocates, and why.

 

We've had only three interviews with Palin and they've all been poor, most especially the interviews outside of friendly territory. The Couric interview was embarrassing. If these were simple coincidences or if she is capable of better then the campaign wouldn't go to such lengths to shield her from questions.

 

This is exactly why female Hillary supporters such as myself and independents such as Rockmom paused at her nomination. So many assumed that we would vote for McCain because he "had enough sense to put a woman on a ticket." We waited to see what substance she brought to the ticket and if we would be comfortable with her as president, if the case were to warrant it. I have said from the beginning that the VP choice would be a larger factor in my decision. While I am not thrilled with Biden, I am most certainly not pleased in any way with Palin. Yes, I would love to see a woman vice president and/or president. But they need to be ready for the job. I am afraid that Palin is not.

I have posted many times about the Ammo Bills that Obama has tried to get pushed across the table. I'm sure you can find them in the previous threads. Many other BGP members have posted them as well.

Trust me, it is not a scare tactic, I don't operate that way. Obama is in favor of taking away your right to bear arms and your right to protect yourself from the scum who want to steal what you work so hard to get and his voting record will back that statement.

Do you make over 250,000.00? If not I assume you will choose Barack Obama since that group will get a tax cut. 95% of working Americans will pay less in taxes. So, are you in favor of lower taxes? If so Barack is your man.

 

How many bills did he introduce in the US Senate or the Illinoise Senate to repeal the right to own firearms?

To answer your question honestly, I don't have the exact number of the bills you requested but if you send Uncle Ted Nugent or the NRA folks an e-mail they will be more than willing to give you your answer. I'm sure you can produce that number if so desired. However, if you do, please produce the number of times he has tried to pass the ammunition laws that would make it next to impossible to purchase or store ammo. Previous threads have pointed that out many times.

And just in case you have not figured it out. Obama is not my man!!! Iwill say that if he is elected (God forbid) I will support him as our Commander In Chief. Can you say the same if McCain is elected?

I am not the least bit concerned about McCain becoming President and my ability to support him. I will hope that he stores Palin somewhere until the next election and governs from the middle as he has served for these many years. If, however, the idealogues have as much influence in governing as they did in picking the VEEP I will be sorely disappointed.

If you were going to stand behind these ideas so adamantly, you'd think that YOU would be able to find examples of such. JMO.

The right to bear arms is not even on my list of concerns for this country. There are other ways to protect yourself and your belongings. I believe that more should be done to eliminate guns in homes where idiots who don't store them properly have children who shoot themselves and their friends. Of course, I realize a child's life is not nearly as important as that big screen TV someone worked so hard for.

I'll take a stab at this, for now. Neither candidate will be able to cut taxes. I doubt McCain will be able to keep his promise to protect the top earners at this point. So, let's just put this to rest. We will be paying more.

 

I will support McCain, if he's elected. I don't really have any problems with McCain that would keep me from voting for him....except for Palin. However, I would support him, and pray everyday he doesn't die in office.

I agree with most of Obama's positions and ideas. I (and I may be the only one) genuinely like Joe Biden. The positions I don't agree with them on are not "deal breakers" for me, so I'm announcing my support for Barack Obama and Joe Biden. :thumb:

If you need the proof so bad, I would suggest you go back and do the thread searches. There were many examples showing how Obama wants the ammo bills passed, they are listed in the newsletter's from the NRA and from Ted Nugents web-site. I'm sure there are other listing's as well. However, I have posted them many times before so I will not do so again.

Can we now admit the obvious? Sarah Palin is utterly unqualified to be vice president. She is a feisty, charismatic politician who has done some good things in Alaska. But she has never spent a day thinking about any important national or international issue, and this is a hell of a time to start.
