How many picks did Boyd have in the end zone against Lawrence? I think Ashland by 3 tds

It's good to see the Tomcats shown a little respect. However, our team must stay focused, continue to improve and cut out the mistakes and penalties. Boyd Co. is good and this will not be a cake walk by any means. If the Tomcats have a let-down they can very easily lose.

I thought this was an interesting post from the Montgomery thread. I wanted to comment, but didn’t want to resurrect that thread. So, I’ve copied it here. I hope that is OK with y’all.

 

 

What was impressive was the way that Ashland would convert long yardage situations with an inside trap play to the fullback. It looked like they were trapping the 3 technique. In the second half MC would put a linebacker down on the nose, so then Tomcats would run off tackle or outside. Pretty smart play calling and execution. At times it almost looked like the freshman QB for Ashland was changing the plays at the line. Does anyone know if that was the case?

 

 

The call for an inside or outside play comes from the coach. However, on inside plays (which the T-cats ran a lot of Friday) the freshman QB can make changes at the line of scrimmage. He can change which side of the center the ball carrier will run on – which changes the blocking assignments for the O-line, and which guard pulls, etc.

 

I think the coach is showing faith in the young QB and bringing him along.

I think Ashland wins due to Boyd County's complete lack of defense. I don't know what's going on at the County, but this is the second year of their worst defense in school history. I like some of the things on offense, but the Lions are no better as a team now than they were last season at this time.

Your right on Greybeard throw the record books out the windows,watching the last game on the computer a few of the defensive backs killed us arm tackling on some of the long runs .Im sure the coaches are addressing this so the backs will set up , square up , wrap up, its better to give just a little ground then a big play . Those long runs made from a simple missed arm tackle really stick out for every one to see,plus in a close game it will cost the whole team a win.

Its really nice the Tomcats getting some looks down Lexington way the announcers were giving the boys some nice compliments.:thumb:

Rashard Carter will be the best player on the field on Friday night.

 

I have seen both of them play this year and Wilson is the better player imo, but Carter is also a really talented athelete.

 

Anyone know if Wilson is going to be able to play both sides of the ball this week? I know the docters told him not to at the beginning of the year because of his shoulder surgery. If he does play both ways that will definately help Boyd County's defense because he is a very good DB.

A close close game Ashland wins late 34-20 over Boyd Co.

This one will be closer than the experts think...but the Tomcats still previal at home 26-18.

Greybeard its good to see so many players playing thur the pain ,it really is part of the game playing with all the nicks and bangs.This team just keeps impressing me and should all our fans,mental toughness ,playing with pain ,its a mentality that all successful teams have and this toughness will spread from player to player :thumb:.(Of course Im not talking about playing with a broken leg or serious injury.) Go Tomcats ,disciple,toughness mental and physical ,keep improving and the Tomcats will be hard to beat.:thumb:

I was in town and caught the Raceland vs. Ashland game whats the height and weight of the hardy kid he looks small but more than held his own against the rams o-line.

I've said all season that Boyd's defense is it's achilles right now. Their offense can score on anybody but their D-line especially seems to get pushed around too much. The two games I've seen, the D-line is getting pushed back 2-3 yards on just about every snap before making a play, this is a recipe for disaster against a team like Ashland that likes to run it down your throat. I hope Boyd comes out fired up, fires off the ball and stays low instead of immediately standing up on the snap.

Actually, the Arthur kid is from Ashland originally, moved to Mt. Sterling, then went back to Ashland when he felt he wouldn't get an opportunity to play quarterback at Montgomery. Tough loss for Montgomery with him.

 

Probably would have been a great back-up QB, and everybody needs those.

I'm not so sure he wouldn't be the starter if he had remained at Montgomery. Has a much better arm than the current QB.
