ScarHeel Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/69870 "I'll retire next year, I already gave my all. I don't need to prove anything for anyone and within one year I'll put my gloves aside,"
NEXT Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 No way he does it. Too much money to be made in super fights.
halfback20 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 No way he does it. Too much money to be made in super fights. I agree. Plus, I read that he wants to keep fighting until he gets his green card too. He opened up a gym in Miami with Big Nog. I'd say he fights at least 2 or 3 more years.
sportsfan41 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I could see it either way. At this point there really isn't anyone I can think of that could beat him. Why not go out on top, before people start trying to say you're dodging someone when you decide to retire later on. On the other hand, no one has come close to beating him lately, he could go another few years and be considered one of if not the best so far.

There are a ton of MW's out there for him to fight, its just they are not in the UFC. He is very beatable.

sports fan Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Why retire when you can beat every other man on the planet in about 2 minutes time? He'll have 15 more HUGE paydays before he calls it quits.
sportsfan41 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 There are a ton of MW's out there for him to fight, its just they are not in the UFC. He is very beatable. Well there is always gonna be one more good fighter he can accept a challenge from. But if he wants to go out on top, the next year or so is the best time to do it.

Doesn't throw his money away like it's nothing, then I could completely understand why he'd be willing to retire now or soon.

I feel all these MW guys can "hang" with him but we shall see. Gegard Mousasi Kazuo Misaki Yoshihiro Akiyama Denis Kang Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza Jason "Mayhem" Miller Melvin Manhoef Zelg Galesic Plus there are a ton of LHW's he could fight......starting with Wanderlei

NEXT Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 He would absolutely destroy Miller IMO. He might, but he might not. Miller went the distance with Jacare, who is a top 5 BJJ guy in all of MMA and has only been TKO'd or subbed one time each, in all his fights. All other losses are decisions. Gegard Mousasi is as well rounded as Spyder and Denis Kang might be just a notch under Spyder Kazuo Misaki is a solid fighter. Yoshihiro Akiyama is well rounded but comes up short in the striking department. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is a BJJ master but lacks in the striking department. Melvin Manhoef and Zelg Galesic, Spyder would probably sub them, but he sure would not strike with either.
Nonnac Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I don't catch many UFC fights but when I do i always look for Silva, he is a great fighter. I don't blame him, I wouldn't risk my well being for more then a couple of years. He's smart to retire (if he does) and get out of the sport before he takes one bad shot to the head.
hoopboy Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I've heard about this Silva guy. Chuck Liddel knocked him out didn't he......just joking.

There is no one that he would NOT stand with. I would like him to fight Henderson one more time at 185 and then just fight at 205 after that since fights with those guys from Dream will never happen. O and not sure if anyone has said it yet but Andersons manager says the whole retirement thing next year is not true. He still has 6 fights left on his deal and he wont retire before those are done.
