I am not bashing Coach Martin. He was an assistant at some good Lou. Wagg. teams. He was middle school coach at North Oldham middle. His first head coaching job was at Henry and he really did not have any success until he brought in some real good assistant coaches. He is doing the same at North Oldham. I do agree that the best head coaches have great assistant coaches but on his own he has proven to not be real effective.

Steel, be nice. That was uncalled for and over the line in my opinion. He does a great job with what he has and his teams are always prepared. BM is a good ball coach!

Steel- the mark of a new coach is what they do in their 3rd year of a new school. Henry Co was not real great if I remenber and North had won a total of 7 games. Both are better than they were before he got there. HC did not even get him any assistants until the 3rd year(AD Gilley got an ENG teacher)and he went out and got most of them. North has been real supportive with this. this is why they were good in year 2 and not year 3 like HC. Now if Coach Martin goes to Male, Ballard, Trinity, X, it won't take 3 years there.;)

I am taking North and spoling the Homecoming dreams of the Wildcats. Not sure if Herny has been tested this season. Both teams seem to have solid starts. Good luck to both teams.

Knute, sour grapes won't cut it here. Coach Martin left Henry Co. by his own accord. Since he left, in head's up competition Henry has won 3 games to North's 0. Henry's staff is made up of mostly para-professional coaches now. They took the same players that Coach Martin left when he went to North and have been quite successful. I don't know where the three year rule comes from. But last year was year two for Coach Engstrand and his staff. I don't think district champion and regional runner up is necessarily a bad year. Now in year three they are 4-0, averaging 51.5 points and have yet to let any team cross their goal line. How many schools in the state would like to be able to say that? They are not paper champions as some would say. Henry County has a solid football team. Friday night should tell the tale. North travels to New Castle. It will be a great football night. It's homecoming just like it was at North last year, both teams are undefeated, it's the 1st district game for each team and the last chance for Henry's seniors to face their old coach. Personally, I like the Cats chances for a win. But the game must be played out and all the posting on B. P. won't change the outcome. Good luck to Coach Maritn and the Mustangs and may the best team win. P.S. I don't see Coach M. going to any of the 6A schools Knute mentioned. I don't understand that post.

Not so fast, Coach Martin is one of the best offensive minds in the game today. He knows the wing - T as well as anyone. Not to mention he also has one of the better defensive coordinators in the game in Coach Chappall. Should be a great game edge North Oldham.:ylsuper:

Good morning, Knute. "The game of the Year" in our district is just two days away. Mr. Holtz is feeling his North Oldham oats today. Granted Coach Martin is a good offensive mind and the wing-T is a tough offense to defend. But N.O. was only able to score 7 points against Henry Co. in each of their two games last year. And last year was supposed to be North's year with all their seniors. What gives? Sounds like the Cats defense can make plays. They have scored in every game so far this year. Picked up 18 turnovers, blocked two punts and have two safeties. And they did this with a running clock in three games. Stats like that will win ballgames. I think Henry County is just the more physical team year in and year out. And this year is no different. Nevertheless, it will still be decided on the field. Can't wait to watch this one Friday night. I'll give the Henry Co. offense their due a little later.

No oat feeling here. One reason to run the Wing -T offense is so you have angles on defensive players you don't have to be as physical as the other team.

Clear the air- HC has only lost to North once ever- coach M beat North as well- If you knew anything about develpoing a program OL 70 you would understand the 3 year rule, ask any head coach and they will tell you that. Henry Co was not in bad shape when Coach M left- Coach E did good the 2nd year 1st year had some growing pains with new system etc. Coach Martin was horrible first year at North 0-10 (1-9) year before he got there, and 8-4 in 2nd year. No sour grapes here -I am happy HC is is doing well- just hope not this Friday As to your stats North Oldham can make that claim as well-they have had their Varsity Defense scored on once- rest JV and Special teams, some people sub when they have a huge lead.

Shawnee and Cal would beat any team HC has played

North has more seniors this year- OL 70-- Ask Tom Hawkins the radio guy and he can tell you that. As to more physical I guess we will see how it plays out Friday. I think both defense's are way more physical than the offense's. That Mount Hadden must be doing a great job with the Defense; I know he did when Coach Martin was there as well. If Hc just could have got bye those Russell Red Devils in 04-05- now those were some awesome teams.
