Haddix hit Flecher right in the hands. He hit him twice and Flecher let both of the go right though his hands. What is wrong with the Breathitt receivers this year?

Knew I was seeing far too many points in the prediction thread. Whenever a team is happy with 3-5 yds./carry in keeping it on the ground, it limits both team's possessions severely. Unfortunately for the Engineers, those kinds of offensive game plans are prone to mishaps because of the number of plays in a given drive (more chance for a mistake).

 

But brother !!! Defensive games are a thing of beauty, IMO...

 

Congratulations to both teams on an obviously great game !!!

I remember Estill County being a force and feared in the nineties. I will never forget that 1995 Estill County versus Rockcastle County District Championship game, the crowd was intense and the football was excellent.

 

Several straight years of losing a lot of games takes that luster away, it does seem though that the past 2-3 years they are getting their name back into the mix of things. I'll eat crow and give Estill County a thumbs up for their performance, I look forward to playing them in a couple of weeks.

3 seasons ago these seniors were freshman, and most of them were called upon to play a big part that season. This class has always been talented, that was apparent their freshman year when there were few upperclassmen to rely on throughout most of the year, but they battled through, stuck with it, and now you are seeing the end result.

This was the first Estill game I've seen in a couple years. Played in a few Estill v. Breathitt games over the years and they are known for their intensity and hard hitting all the way back to the early '80's. This is the first time in 20+ years that Estill was by far the more physically dominant team. Estill dominated all aspects of this game except for the one that mattered, the scoreboard. The ball stayed on the Breathitt Co. end the entire night. Saw a little of everything this game is known for: hard hitting, great ground games, tough defense, and even a little home cookin' now and then. I had never seen a line judge make his spot on fourth downs by running up the sideline looking at the first down marker and stopping a yard short and running straight out to the hash and calling for the ball but I saw it twice this night. Then the referee had the rabbit ears and started scanning the crowd to see who was calling him out for this. Funny AND sad. Great game Estill Co.!!! You are indeed a team that belongs in the top ten of 3A this year. Enjoy it but KEEP WORKING!!!! Again, Estill DOMINATED this game, and the Channing Fugate kid is a very good back. I've heard he's a transfer from the Hazard area. If so Hazard lost a great player. Go 'Neers!!!

Again, Estill DOMINATED this game, and the Channing Fugate kid is a very good back. I've heard he's a transfer from the Hazard area. If so Hazard lost a great player. Go 'Neers!!!

Breathitt dropped 3 touchdown passes that would have made this game what it should have been. Estill had a good game plan that consisted of keeping the ball out of Breathitt's hands. Estill had a good defense for the most part but the problem was with our lack of concentration and really we just didn't play sharp at all. I have watched Breathitt pretty much every game over that past 13-14 years and I have never seen a team play with so little heart. Even in practice they just seam to be going through the motions. I still say the talent is there to be a very good team we just have to find a way to be better focused.
