Brewers fire manager Ned Yost

Guess I just don't remember that. I thought it was basically the same type setup as the Bengals, where his children ran the show.
Selig's daughter ran the team until it was sold to Attanasio, who has really made a push to win this year. It's my understanding that the signing of Cameron was at the owner's behest, because he wanted to win this year.

I believe that Selig's daughter is still an owner, just not the majority owner.

"The Milwaukee fans better hope that the Brewers don't pull a Mets '07 & have a monumental collapse the rest of the way..."

Paraphrase from Buster Olney of ESPN...

I also think she still has an interest in the team.

I'm sitting here with my jaw on the floor...I never saw that one coming. As a matter of fact, I'll bet Ned didn't, either.

They could have waited till seasons end. Firing him now isnt gonna win them anything.

Something obviously spurned this, other than the recent skid. Very surprising, given the contention situation and lateness.

Ken Rosenthal thinks it will save the Brewers' season. (Not that I put much stock into what Rosenthal says, FWIW)

Wouldn't shock me at all if the players rally around their fallen manager. Thank goodness the Cubs are already in great shape to wrap up the division. Let the Brewers fight with everyone else for the Wild Card.

Not only is the timing bizarre, but when you consider Yost is a former Brewer and what he's done for the ballclub, it is even more strange. The Brewers were perennially cellar-dwellers before Yost. Granted they've been on a big skid lately, but still. Yost has got them so close to finally making the post season, and now he's been fired. Wow.

Bizarre move by the Brewers. Be fun watching how this turns out.
