September 16, 200818 yr I've thought about this all afternoon. I agree that the game should have been in Texas or Atlanta. Playing in Milwaukee is not why the Astros lost the last two days. Maybe it's karma for the Cubs having home field advantage taken away from them in the 1984 NLCS because ABC didn't want to carry three playoff games during the day. Instead of two games in San Diego and three at Wrigley, Peter Ueberroth switched it and gave the Cubs two home games instead of three in a series where the home team won every game. Maybe it's time some luck went the Cubs way....
September 16, 200818 yr Again, if McClane had chosen to relocate Thursday when it was obvious Ike was going to hit Houston, they could have played one game Saturday and two games Sunday with a day off today. All three would have gotten in. When McClane refused to budge until Saturday, MLB had no other choice because the player's union was not going to approve two games Sunday and one today. Where would they have played the games on Saturday and Sunday?

But by waiting so late, the options narrowed because Stadiums need advance notice to call in workers, get concessions and their workers there, arrange for security, etc. Most places can do this with 2-3 days notice. Only a few could with 1 day.

One hit in two days by a team as hot as the Astros have been tells me everything I need to know. This whole situation was not handled the right way.

Holding out hope you are going to play in Houston instead of getting the families out of town and to a neutral site on Friday would have put them in a much better situation. I think McClane cost his team the playoffs because he wanted the money from the series instead of looking out for the best interests of his club. You had a Cubs team that was reeling and knocked back on their heels. You play them as soon as possible. You don't give them three days to circle the wagons and regroup.
