I thought that 105.7 was doing Russell games, but I could be wrong.

 

:thumb: You are correct Doc. However, WLGC also carries the Fairview games on a delay immediately after the Russell broadcast.

 

I was thinking that since the Tomcats games are on radio maybe WLGC will broadcast the Rams/Eagles live.

My thoughts exactly OR, we may not be able to listen to the game. I don't believe W. R .P .N. is up and running yet.

Last thoughts on this game.......Raceland, you have got to stay focused. Fairview is hungry and they want what you have. Don't let up and give it all you have for 48 minutes and you'll have what you went there for. You can't focus on anything but friday night if you expect to be in Louisville in December. I think I heard wlgc say it would be on delay after Ashland and Russell game. I am pretty shore.

I believe the Racland / Fairview series is bout 27 - 8 in favor of Raceland. I would think that Fairview would want an advantage like that over their rival.

Absolutely correct cville. I believe that Raceland has about 17 District Championships though the years. I don't know how many District Championships that Fairview has but I don't think that it would be over 5. I don't have the ADI preview with me right now but I know the comparison of the number of playoff appearances would be lop sided in the Rams favor as well. Fairview had a few very good years a while back under Chad Tackett. I believe that they won 3 maybe 4 district titles under Tackett, not sure. The Eagles also had some pretty good teams under Paul Reliford back in the early 70's and Rex Cooksey had a couple of pretty good teams as well in his years.

 

District play and playoffs in basically the way they are set up now started in Kentucky in the fall of 1975 I believe. Raceland has 16 or 17 of our District's Championships out of the 33 years this system had been in place. Raceland has playoff appearances in 27 of the 33 years of this system and has been in 32 playoff games with a poor 7-25 playoff record, a oot of those years Raceland lost to the eventual State Class A Champion. As the comparison/question to Fairview ealrler...the Eagles have been in the playoffs 7 of the 33 years with a 2-7 record in 9 playoff games.

Raceland hasn't done well in the playoffs or have State Titles but they have been there (playoffs) many times compared to some others.

There are schools with better traditions and more titles than Raceland, no doubt about it. There are also imo a lot of schools that do not have what Raceland has and would like to. Should someone not want what Raceland has the I am fine with that as well.

Are you kidding me? Raceland is ALOT higher up on the pecking order than Fairview (no pun intended). The Eagles would love to have Raceland's tradition & following.

 

Fairview's had some decent years & a few good runs, but in the overall scheme of consistency, winning records, playoff appearances, etc...there is no comparison. Raceland wins that battle hands down. No disrespect to the Eagles, but that's just the cold hard facts.

I don't know, the only thing that I can figure is that they have an agreement or contract with Russell to cover the Russell games as their main game of the night. They then broadcast the Fairview game on a delayed basis each week, I think that is how they did it last season as well.

 

I also heard that the Raceland webcast of the games were only for the home games, that makes no sense to me at all but what so I know?....Nothing:lol:. Something about not being able to take the camera to away games? They imo don't need a camera for an audio and could do w/o a video on it. I would think that they could still broadcasat. That is jmo and maybe someone else can give us some info on that.

Well, 95% of the area falls short in that category. Keep in mind however that there's a 27 year gap between Russell's state championships. Not until the playoff format change did the Devils start consistently winning 10-11 games a year & avoiding a semi-final loss to the likes of Highlands. I know how tough it was because I played on three of those Final Four teams in Red Devil land, and we had some good teams then too. Russell had the same problem Raceland and others had in this area for quite awhile...the Northern KY delimina. Also, you'd be hard-pressed to find many teams of any class that could beat Newport Central Catholic in the playoffs, or Highlands for that matter.

 

I will agree with you in that while others have good programs & tradition, Russell (at least the last 25 years) is the measuring stick around here, along with Ironton in terms of consistently being in the hunt for a state title.

Of course.......... the goal for everyone in the State but when one looks at sucsess and tradition that way that would leave most schools in the state out.

I personally would love to have the history and tradition of an Ashland but we do not. That does not take away from other accomplishments through the years.

Should a state championship every season be the requirement for a tradition, even though that is everyones goal then everyone in the state is without tradition unless there is a school that has won state championship "every" year.
