Just a side note, beleive it or not, I actually sat very close to two people associated with the Rockcastle program, who had clipboards with paper that had "Play formations and defense vs. Bell County" and the same for the other, just vs. Knox Central, they were probably 4 people over from me. Just an observation i made during one of the drawn out pauses due to the officials.

 

Your point is? Rock takes scouts to every opponent and goes the extra effort in seeing them sometimes more than once. They are usually 3-4 weeks ahead of the scouting process by the time that particular team is played, it is that extra preparation that Rock takes pride in and prepares their players. I see scouts at every game I go to wearing their school colors. If I know the old man you are referring to from Bell County he always chats with the Rock scouts each year.

This was actually a very good and experienced officiating crew, but after speaking to a few of them after this was over, they felt like they called a horrible game. Sounds like nobody on here disagrees! They let it get out of hand then had a very difficult time getting the players emotions reeled in. Even good crews have bad nights and by their admission, they certainly had theirs in this game. I know nearly every one of them and I can assure you that they were not in favor of any team, they just let it get out of hand. But also the coaches did not do much to settle their players down. But in an emotional game like this, sometimes that it difficult to do. Nobody seemed to have an answer for it on the field or on the sidelines. However flaghappy some may feel they were, believe it not, kids are more likely to commit penalties when they are emotionally charged. Many on that crew have called various Bell and KC games over the years with no issues.

 

And for the record, per the officials, there were some cheap shots on both sides. A lot of jawing, etc. They stated that they didn't feel that one team was any worse than the other, but there was a lot of it going on. I think the officials and the coaches have to learn from this game to let not the kids get out of hand as happened in this game. It was bad enough that with :50 left, the officials recommended to the coaches that they not shake hands to avoid any potential problems.

I was just saying i thought it was interesting. Never said anything was wrong with it, or did i mean for anyone to think i was insinuating it was "dirty" or against the rules i didn't know if it was or not, :thumb: to them for getting that competitive advantage, if it truly helps them against these teams i applaud it.

Three Wishes....Dudley plays Knox differently than most teams each of the last three years.....22 pts....22pts. and 21 points. Someone said they could not understand that they scored so few. This game always is played hard and in the trenches. I think one reason is that Bell runs a real conservative game plan against Knox.....mainly because Dudley knows Rock is scouting this game. He is not going to show a lot of his offense....until the Rock game every year. I think it shows his respect for the Rock program....primarily for Larkey...in years past, but still respects the Rock nonetheless. What do you think?

I agree that was part of it, but the members of the officiating crew I spoke with felt they had made some mistakes with the main one being not getting control early.

I have never seen a team "protect the ball" by passing, not once but twice, in the final minutes of a game.:sleep: gimme a break!

 

This is just a case of 'Dudley being Dudley'.......

and...this was a game against a coach who is or maybe was very close to him. Imagine if it were against a bitter rival coach/team. could have something to do with character of the Bell coach why he has trouble finding opponents to play.

Don't make excuses for Corbin because they are afraid to play Bell. Corbin is scared to play, bottom line.

In fairness to both sides I believe this whole matter has been blown out of context with childish he said she said. It is a rivalry game for Bell because it is the only game that Bell can get within forty miles so emotions run very high. It also has to do with the fact that the apprentice is trying to prove he's better than the master so the game is a boiling pot of enthusiasm. Which is not only good for the athletes its good for the fans.
