Conner 20 Simon Kenton 19

Sure if Simpson wasn't on the team they wouldn't be as good but he's on the team, and to say they don't have other weapons is not correct.

Simpson plays safety on defense, and he's pretty good on that side of the ball as well. He's a hard hitter, and he also had an interception in the 4th quarter that should have ended any hopes for the Cougars.

Have the other weapons performed yet? You watch them closer than I do but saying they are weapons and them actually removing some of the burden are two different things.

Conner's offense did a great job of over coming mistakes but it was the defense that won this game. Without the muffed punt on their own 15 and the kickoff return for a TD, they held SK to 7 points all in the first half. It was a wet game, so turn-overs are more likely to happen and there were plenty by both sides. Conner dropped 2 TD passes in the end zone. They had first and goal twice and did not score choosing to go for it instead. Hats off to SK defense there. Conner has an excellent kicker so maybe next time....(easy for me to say in hindsight). This could have been a blowout for Conner. Their offense could have put up another 20 points very easily. Just catch the ball and kick the field goals (again easy for me to say) but it is the truth. All in all both teams showed why they will be tough to beat this year and Simpson is a monster to tackle. Holding him to 115 yards on the ground is a great effort when you realise how good he is.

^ SK also fumbled on the 1 and 8 going into score... I don't think either team would blow the other out on a clean field..

I agree coach, both teams shot themselves in the foot with turnovers deep in the redzone.

Where was the other big DT for Conner? 66 or 69?

Nice game for Conner. Does anyone have stats of the game?

Perhaps a clean field would make a difference...perhaps not. I only know what I saw. Take away the turnovers from both teams and Conner still wins by almost 2 touchdowns or more. Conner also turned the ball over inside the SK 5 when going in to score. I was just making the point that the opportunity for Conner to blow them out was there. The same opportunity was there for SK by the way. They were up 19-7 with time running down when they turned the ball over.

Both Teams left a lot on the table, but this is the 2nd week in a row that S.K has left 14 - 21 points on the table. We are so predictable. If half of the fans know what you are running 2 downs out of 3 how hard is it for an average defensive coordinator to figure it out. I say 3 plays because we always punt on 4th even if it will only net us 8 yards of field position. One move would make S.K very difficult to defend. Move Chad Lawrence to QB and make Bustle a Slash. This game wouldn't have been close had we kept up the pressure in the 4th instead of playing soft.

I questioned why Conner didn't attempt to short fgs on 4th downs that ended in turnovers. I didn't see how their K fared in warmups, but on kickoffs he can boot it deep, so he doesn't have a weak leg.

He is a great kicker, he was kicking 45+ FGs last year

Amazing Game, best of the year. Big win on their home field for the Cougars.

That move wouldn't do anything imo. Lawrence will get his chance next year, but he is not the QB this year and he won't be unless there is an injury.
