It isn't a vague question. It is a very specific question, she just had no clue what the Bush Doctrine is.

 

Then what is the Obama doctrine?

I liked the way she fished Charlie hard for some help. I believe if Obama will concentrate on McCain, Palin will take care of herself.

 

I'm beginning to believe that's wishful thinking, on both parts. This is a big change in my thinking since earlier in the summer.

It is an outline of the President's view on what goals our national security policy should work toward and the means by which those goals might be achieved. It was released by the President in the Fall of 2002 and really is a very striking document. The first three pages give an overview of what the rest of the strategy contains. When someone talks about the Bush Doctrine, this is what they mean.

The Republicans are slinging mud at Obama pretty bad. Obama is receiving a lot of support from Democrats as well. Does that mean Republicans are more worried about Obama than Democrats?

Funny stuff, but I don't understand the relationship to picking a vice president that will help get you elected. That's what candidates have been doing forever.

I am extremely surprised so few people in this thread have heard of the Bush Doctrine. I was under the impression it was common knowledge. Regardless, anyone that is going to have a hand in our foreign policy going forward should know what it is and have a strong opinion of it, one way or another. They may also want to familiarize themselves with the Monroe Doctrine, Roosevelt Corollary, and the Truman Doctrine, among other important influences on U.S. foreign policy.

 

Was it a "gotcha" question? I think so, it was phrased as such. But, then again, I would find it reasonable to assume someone at this level would know what the Bush Doctrine is, as well as the President of Mexico, for example.
