Pulaski County back in Ray Correll Bowl

Featured Replies

Two weeks after dropping out of the Ray Correll Bowl at Somerset the Pulaski County Maroons are back in. They agreed to a 2 year contract for 2009 and 2010. Henry Clay has also agreed to play those 2 years. The lineup looks like this:

2009

Henry Clay vs. Southwestern

Pulaski County vs. Somerset

2010

Henry Clay vs. Pulaski County

Southwestern vs. Somerset

Good decision by Pulaski, this has become a great event for the Somerset community.

IMO thats good news..Why did PC drop out of the Bowl in the first place?? I heard Hines didnt wanna play there any longer..I also heard this might be Hines last year at coaching?? That one night is great profit for all three of our local teams, and the whole community loves to get involved and come out and watch..Im glad that they are back in, and good luck to all our local teams!!

I think the main reason is that he wanted to get to play Somerset on Pulaski's field instead of always playing at Somerset. I think it would have been a mistake to drop out of the Correll Bowl, it really has become a great night for our local teams.

Somerset should schedule Pulaski in regular season. That would solve that.

Would they split the gate with SHS? Somerset splits the Bowl money now. I take it if they played Pulaski every year then, one year would be Bowl game and the next at PC. I don't see where PC would split half the gate with Somerset. There would be no advantage to playing PC at PC every other year, except for Pulaski.

Great news. I love the Correll Bowl and it's turned into a good local event.

Nice to have you back PC.

It's going to be fun having Henry Clay back in Somerset. I remember when Somerset use to play them back in the 80's. Top notch competition for the county schools!

Next two years look to be great!!!! I'm happy Pulaski is back in the RCB, I have so many friends overthere that I would have missed seeing.

I see your point on that..and yea if thats the way they wanted to do it then the profit should be split..fair is fair..Im glad whoever made the decision to keep PC in the RCB was thinking logical..:thumb:

Coach Hines is not getting out of coaching.

I don't know about the other schools, but Pulaski Co. only gets $2000 from The Ray Correll Bowl. This year at $8 a pop, with 8000 fans, that is $64,000. Take away about $10,000 in expenses, plus $2000 to each visiting team, (if that is what the other teams get), that is $48,000 for Somerset. That is not splitting, according to my calculations.

That is Great News!

Somerset, should play PC and SW every year, but I'm tired of beating that dead horse, as long as Jay Cobb is coaching at SHS it just won't happen and that is a real shame.

I think you are right.

I agree-For example: Somerset Played Southwestern this year @ home (Correll Bowl), then they should play Pulaski @ Pulaski .It would be switched every year. I don't know all the facts about the money-but I do know Slink has some good figures in front of us !:argue:
