That does not make him as good as the players I put in front of him in my eyes. I really don't put much stock in AAU and the defense that is played in those games. Ferguson is a nice player, but I don't believe he is as good as a lot of other guys like the ones I have in front of him. Thats just my opinion from someone who isn't partial to Elliott Co. Hes a very good player, but there is a lot of very good players in the state right now.

 

So what does the fact that he averaged 26-28 a game against High school defense last season mean. And do you put much stock in the defense that is played in those(high school) games? And before you say he done it in the 16th...Elliott played 8 games out of the 16th region last year and in those eight he avgd 29.3. He had 46 in two games combined against the best team in the state!! I don't know how you would rate their defense. In my eye's it makes him better than a lot of the players you put in front of him. Theres hardly any of them had the numbers or %'s he has had or did and very few of them drew the other teams best defender night in and night out as he did last year. You are entitled to your opinion though as am I, and in mine he is in the top ten!!:thumb:

I thought he had a pretty good game against Mason Co. in the state tournament. As for the regular season game, that was a blow out so getting points in a game that isn't close isn't a good measuring stick. He is a nice player, there is no doubt about that. But I don't know of anyone else that Elliott Co. played that was that good of a team besides Mason Co. I think Ferguson is a very good player, but not hardly as good as the others. Wow, Elliott has the best point guard in the state, and according to Shooterx3, the second best point guard in the state and now the best wing in the state. I'll simply say that they should be the favorites to win it all. :dancingpa:dancingpa

I did not see where anyone said Ferguson was the best wing in the state, they were arguing that he was "one of "the best wings in the state. And I agree with them.

Ferguson and the Faulkners need to keep doing what they have been doing(being winners) and get a D1 scholarship(according to Fergusons, all three are being recruited by D1's) and zip all the naysayers shut. Ill say one thing though YNOT, they have all three did a lot more than a couple of the highly ranked superstars that were in their region. You know you can talk a lot of talk and one guy can say so and so is best in my opinion and so on and so forth, but a person is known by the fruits of their labors and those three kids have done nothing else but work a lot, play alot, and provide leadership and wins for whatever team they were playing for since they were in 7th grade. They are all three top players in the state IN MY OPINION.

The team winning or losing is irrelevant to this aurgement. You are doubting Ferguson being a 10 top wing player in the state. Last year, according to most people on this board, Micheal Grimes was the best defensive player in the state and Ferguson had 30 on him. By himself he kept Elliott County in that game.

Better than Shelvin Mack? What seperates the other guys from Ferguson is not necessarily scoring or shooting, but being good defenders and rebounders. That is where a guy like say Vee Sanford, although he isn't in this category seperates himself. I seen him dominate games last year at the defensive end. Also take a player like Jon Hood. He can rebound, score, run the point, block shots, get a ton of steal, etc. On top of that he is also a great shooter and is a good 6-6. Or Ricardo Johnson. Hes very athletic, strong, good shooter, etc. Its not a knock on Ferguson, its about giving credit to some of the exceptionally great players we have who IMO, a lot are sure fire major D-1 players.

3 wings that I have not mentioned from the 13th region who are very nice players are Madison Johnson, Shawnta Zachary, and Stan Sleidel. All 3 are very good players and great scorers.

And you can make an argument for Ferguson no doubt. My question is this: Can he play anything but the 2 at the next level? IMO, no he can't. He's a shooter plain and simple. I'm not trying to make an argument for Ferguson being better than this player or that player, I simply stated that he was the best scorer in the state and was TOP 10 wing player in the state.

 

Can Ferguson play anything but the 2 position? Who knows right now because he has never had to. Honestly, I think he can but I won't argue that point because no one on this board has ever witnessed anything but him playing the 2. What I will aruge though, is that if he can't, he will learn to. Ferg has an unbelieveable work ethic and at the next level, if necessary, he can be taugh to play other positions.
