Is the Colerain loss a moral victory for the Birds?

Featured Replies

Moral victories don't count in the win/loss columns, but it was definitely a moral victory, and I think it should be looked at as such. Highlands lined up against one of the top teams in the country and played them tight. I think the Highlands coaching staff has to have some satisfaction in that.

I agree.:thumb: Moral victories do not win you championships.

I can tell you from my son's point of view he doesn't feel in any way satisfied after last nights game. He's disappointed and knows there much improvement needed for this team to be successful this season. So, it doesn't seem any type of victory was achieved last night. It's back to the weight room on Sunday and back to the practice field on Monday. Go Birds!

Go Birds

My son Jarred F. # 56 was disappointed that he and Josh Connor weren't able to do anything to help their teammates out except cheer for them. The Birds will use the experience to their advantage on their way to #18.

See that's not a moral victory for him. He's upset, and has made no mention that "We played so hard." He's going to watch films and see why he lost. That is just 1 L on the road to Louisville, a minor hiccup. Everything else being described on here about the effort and blah blah describes a moral victory while saying that they don't believe in moral victories (and it has been fans from numerous schools saying that). A rose by any other name is still a rose.

As I said in a previous thread, Highlands is one of the best teams in the state of Kentucky, period. If you disagree, come play us and find out. I don't accept the moral victory stuff. I was sitting over there in the rain watching the Cards run all over us. The one thing I can say is, our boys got right up and hit them right back. We went to my nephew's game at IU, he plays for Murray. I saw a kid with a Colerain shirt on and we asked if he played for Colerain. The first thing out of his mouth is, "Wow, you guys were really good. We honestly didn't expect you to be that fast. ...and that Collinsworth kid is fast and he hits really hard." When I heard that, THEN I felt proud of our boys. Up until that moment last night I felt just as dejected with any other loss. I do however believe that this LOSS to Colerain just put those boys in the driver's seat for 5A champ aspirations. Really, I think that all this loss did was wake the sleeping bear, so to speak. I look for HHS to start showing why they are the best and unfortunately for Mr. Lickert, it starts this week with Holmes.

Is anyone going to start a Highlands/Holmes thread BTW????????????????
