Im well aware of what was meant. Im much more versed in figures of speech than you might know. Lets just hope they play this year, Wayne and McCreary. Should be a great game.

Of course with McCreary's 1-24 record from last year...it should be a FANTASTIC game....lol.

Word has it that McCreary has lost several other players also. What happened to them?

Who knows..."when the going gets tough....." Maybe they're tired of losing. I have heard that dedication from the players seems to be a problem for that team.

 

I in no way meant any disrespect to any players or coaches with my comments. I was simply asking if moving to Wayne Co. was going to make her a top player in the region. I have had an opportunity to see her play a few times and while I thought she was pretty good, I wasn't sure that she would be classified as the best in the region. But hey, maybe a change of scenery will be just the motivation she needs.

She has work to do. She has something that cannot be taught at the girls level, that being 6' 3". That alone is enough for 10 points a game on putbacks and alter alot of shots. I dont think she is the best in the region, but she will help Wayne in the post where they needed it. This is the same Wayne team that won the region two years ago, minus Lathem who transferred to Somerset.

Height is good...she needs to work on quickness though and conditioning. I haven't seen too many games that she could make it up and down the floor more than a few times.

Wayne is gonna be moving the ball up and down alot more this year, so that might be a problem.

 

Last time I saw her she had lost between 15-20 pounds. Alot different conditioning program at Wayne.

Morrow can make it up and down the floor fine. Of course, a fast-paced game never really suits a "big," but Morrow can do her own.

 

I think the players lost dedication in the game behind the new coach from last season. The coach will be back this season, and unless something miraculous happens, he won't be back next season.

I voted for Stephanie Salyers of Southwestern.

I think thats where she will struggle at the next level, mobility and at her heighth( I think around a true 6ft with her shoes off) she will be forced to play the 4 and thats gonna push her out on the floor where she has no game.

Strong words to say about a kid. She will sign a D1 scholorship in november and is in my opinion the best post player in the region. I believe that she will be a fine 4 at the next level. Plus I heard a few weeks back that she was a goveners scholar also. I also believe that Brown and Hammond are great ball players who will go D1 if that is what they want. Cant wait to see some basketball in a few months.

I was over at Lincoln County the other day and talking to an assistant coach who told me that Western Kentucky's coach was coming to a conditioning/open gym to watch the Brown kid play. I also heard that she has lost a few pounds and will be able to run the floor better.

 

I was given an article from the newspaper over in Mt. Vernon that said the Hammond kid had been offered a scholarship from the University of Louisville this summer and was told by an assistant coach at Rockcastle, that a coach from Western Kentucky had been to a recent conditioning/open gym. I have a good source in Bowling Green that tells me Western his making her a top priority for the class of 2011. I believe she just turned 15 and is now 6'2". UK is also in the hunt and the coach said an assitant from UK would be coming down for a visit in the near future.

 

I saw all these players play this summer, Hammond, Pittman, Morrow, Salyers, Brown and the Mitchell kid now at East Jessamine. There is no doubt in what I saw that the person who plays the "post" best is the Mitchell girl. The Morrow girl has a long way to go, a long way to compete with these others.

 

What makes for the best player? Is it statistics? Is it the one who best plays the role of a traditional post player? Is it the best athlete? Is it the one who has taken their team to most sweet sixteens? Is the one who plays for the best Divison I program?

 

I guess we'll just have to let the season play out and the good news is that after a few years of mediocrity, the 12th region is much deeper and improved and hopefully will be able to end a dry spell of advancing in the sweet sixteen come March.

Big Impact that was a very informative post thank you. I agree with you that Brown and Hammond will go D1 when they graduate. I also believe that Mitchell is going to IUPUI which is D1. Therefore you have 4 post players from the 12th region that will play at the D1 level in the coming years. That tells me there is alot of good b-ball being played in that region.
