Young Obama's Red Mentor

Well first of all, where have all the rich guys gone, because in case you haven't noticed, there are no jobs and opportunities in the U.S. any more, and what's wrong with China? They're economy is off the roof.
Wow...

I can't even begin to go toe-to-toe with you on the China issue... other than to say, their economy might be off the hook, but the Chinese government is seeing the biggest benefit, not the proletariat factory workers. If that's really what you want, why wait to turn this country into a socialist paradise? I'm sure they'd welcome a big strapping American with a strong back. :thumb:

As far as the rich guys, there’s more of them than ever under Bush, and they’re paying a bigger share of the nation’s taxes, while half of all households pay less than they did prior to Bush.

In regard to jobs and opportunities, I'm working more, earning more and paying a bigger share of taxes than I ever have in my life. But then, I haven't sat around and waited on a saviour in Washington to bail my butt out. :thumb:

My son-in-law was in the 2 year program at Toyota, they told the group he was in that they would not be hired fll time next March. He decided to go get another job right then and there, in ONE week he found another job. Taking in less travel expense with a slightly lower wage, he is making about $20 less per week, but is willing to put in overtime. Not one word of whining came out of his mouth, he just did what he had to do to support his new family.

I put a whole lot less emphasis on the people Obama has encountered over the years than what he says he wants to do. Every politician has strange associations if you dig deeply enough. My problem is that a lot of what Obama says he wants to do has very strong socialistic underpinnings IMO.
I agree totally. The ideas and plans Obama has promoted scare me immensely. I'll quote Reagan here:

"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear."

I don't recall where I read it, but I recall that we have spent over one trillion dollars (that's over $1,000,000,000,000) in the war on poverty launched by Lyndon Baines Johnson in the 1960's. (That's over $25,000,000,000 a year.) And yet, most folks will assert that there's just as much poverty in the U.S. by percentage, as there was then. I'm not going to argue that point, but I do have to ask, if spending $25 billion a year for 40 years has yielded no results, while at the same time helping tear apart inner city family structure and increase crime, how much more do we need to tax and spend on negative results?

Eliminating clearly broken and flawed government programs are entirely off limits... even when there is a mountain of evidence proving they simply do not work. :thumb:

Before Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. became Barck Obama's mentor, there was Frank Marshall Davis.

i thought all of the McCarthy stuff was over. Do you not read history?? UnAmerican Subversive Activity - it was all a ploy to scare people into re-electing the senator.

"I have in my hand the names of #### state department workers who are members of the communist party" The list included bread, milk, lettuce.

This is nuts

Fair enough. But, my immediate question is why are there not threads analyzing Obama's policy proposals?

Ummm, because the entire strategy for getting McCain elected seems to revolve around using distortion and innuendo to create fear.

 Not everybody who was a member of the Communist Party was a victim of MaCarthy. Davis was a communist.

I'd say that there's a fair amount of that going around from both camps.
